All boarding secondary schools in the Katsina state have been closed following the abduction of students by gunmen in Kankara local government area of the state.
The governor of Katsina state, Aminu Masari, gave the directive for the closure of the schools on Saturday, December 12, Premium Times reported.
Masari assured residents that the state government will do everything possible to rescue the abducted students.
He said:
“The situation goes beyond one’s thinking. It’s a sad moment for Katsina, I am assuring parents of the missing students we will do anything humanly possible to rescue the children, it’s our responsibility to protect lives and properties.”
The governor said both the federal and state governments are doing their best to bring an end to banditry in Katsina state.
He disclosed that soldiers are combing the bushes to rescue the students.
