Twitter Lady Narrates How She Met Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and Became His Self Appointed PA (Photos)

 

In attempt to motivate whoever is in need of motivation, a Nigerian lady Aminat Sule has taken to twitter to narrate how he met former president, Olusegun Obasanjo for the first time and became his self appointed personal assistant without prior notice.

Aminat Sule wrote;

I set a goal for myself to become the youngest first female foreign affairs minister for Nigeria. For someone who was born in the UK. It sounded quite radical right?

Due to a lack of funding, my show could no longer be aired on National TV.

Shortly after this happened I was told by a learned colleague about an event hosted by
@ChathamHouse called “Re-Writing Politics to Africa’s Advantage.” President Obasanjo was one of the panelists.

I was determined to serve one of the greatest leaders in Africa. So I positioned myself front row. I sat in the seat reserved for a @thesundaytimes journalist – my apologies your correspondent arrived late.

I made eye contact with Mr Olusegun the entire event. From start to finish. Once the event was over. Guests and fellow panelists wanted to take pictures and engage with Pres. Obasanjo.

I stormed onto the stage and said, excuse me: “No more pictures! Can we get him into a private room, with a glass of water? In 10 minutes he’ll resume to discuss matters and entertain the press.”

He followed me & when we got into the room he asked: “Who’s daughter are you?”

I responded “My father isn’t anyone you know. He’s Just a normal Nigerian citizen who relocated to the UK for a better life.”

He chuckled and said “so how can I help you?”

I said “well I’m your new PA. I’m going to serve you.”

I’ve been serving him since that date.

Moral of the story: Opportunities don’t always come to you. Sometimes you have to create your own opportunities.

UNILAG Appoints Prof. Theophilus Soyombo as New Acting Vice Chancellor

 

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Governing Council has announced Prof. Theophilus Soyombo as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution to replace Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe who was removed from office on Wednesday, August 12.

Ogundipe was accused of acts of wrongdoing, gross misconduct, financial recklessness and abuse of office.

Soyombo’s appointment was announced in a statement released by the Registrar and Secretary to the council, Oladejo Azeez. This comes hours after Ogundipe released a statement insisting he is still the Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

Azeez in the statement released, said Ogundipe was duly removed from office.

The statement reads;

“My attention has been drawn to a document circulating under the hand and signature of the former Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, FAS. The letter purports to deny his removal by the Governing Council of University at its Emergency Meeting of Wednesday, August 12, 2020.

For the avoidance of doubt, I am in my capacity as Registrar and Secretary to Council the only custodian of the minutes of Council and the authorising officer on behalf of Council to issue official statements pertaining to all Council Affairs.

Members of the public are hereby advised to totally disregard the statement attributed to the said former Vice Chancellor. The position remains that he was lawfully removed by the Governing Council at a meeting fully attended by all Council members.

I also wish to use the opportunity to inform members of the public that Council at the said meeting duly appointed Professor Theophilus Omololu Soyombo of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos as Vice Chancellor of the University in an Acting Capacity.”
