Man Bath His Wife With Acid and Got Sentenced to Death

An Ikeja High Court on Thursday sentenced a businessman, Suleiman Olalekan to death by hanging for killing his 22-year-old wife, Chika Egbo, by bathing her with acid.

Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo sentenced Suleiman to death after finding him guilty of a two-count charge of murder and grievous bodily harm.

Lawal-Akapo, while pronouncing the sentence, said:

“The defendant is found guilty of murder, the defendant, Suleiman Olalekan, will be hanged by the neck until you are dead.

“May the Lord have mercy on your soul.”
NAN reports that Suleiman, a graduate of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ibadan, bowed his head and remained expressionless when the sentence was pronounced on him before a crowded courtroom.

His trial started at the High Court on Dec. 9, 2014.

During the trial, the prosecution led by Mr Adeniji Kazeem, the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, said Suleiman committed the offence on Nov. 5, 2012.

“The accused at 1.35 p.m. on the said day at Bakare Street, Ikotun, a Lagos suburb, allegedly caused the death of Chika Egbo by bathing her with acid.

“He also caused the grievous bodily harm of one Mr Sunny Daniel, a commercial motorcyclist".

According to the prosecution, the convict and the deceased got married and had a daughter, who is currently four years old.

“The accused and the deceased were having problems in their relationship; the accused lured the deceased who had moved to Enugu back to Lagos under the guise that he wanted her to visit his mother.

“When she came to Lagos, he and the deceased hailed a commercial motorcycle which was to convey them to his mother’s house.

“While the motorcycle was on motion, the accused brought out a container of acid and poured it on Egbo’s head,” he said.

According to the prosecution, Suleiman was caught while trying to flee the crime scene by passers-by and sympathisers.

“The attack left Egbo’s head badly disfigured and unrecognisable as well as leaving severe burns on her shoulders, breasts and private parts.

“Daniel, the commercial motorcyclist, was also grievously injured during the attack and almost lost an eye.

“Egbo succumbed to her injuries at the Burns Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) on Dec. 20, 2014,” Kazeem said.

The offence contravened Sections 221 and 243 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

He had pleaded not guilty. But Justice Lawal-Akapo, while pronouncing judgement, debunked his claims.

“I closely watched the demeanour of the accused while he gave his evidence, he was panting and fidgeting. I believe his testimony was filled with falsehood.

“I believe he poured the acid on the deceased which led to her death and the three ingredients of murder have been established.

“The defendant put up the defence of provocation and strenuously admitted it in his defence.

“However, in his statement to the police when the incident was still fresh in his memory, he did not raise the issue of provocation.

“In his confessional statement, he admitted that a battery charger sold the acid to him for N1,500 after he told the battery charger that he needed the acid for an experiment.

“A scenario of provocation did not arise while they were in motion on the motorcycle.

“He also did not bring up the defence of provocation during his oral testimony,” Lawal-Akapo said.

Police Arrested Famous Redeemed Church Pastor, Jamiu Ishola Kolawole For N9m Fraud

A minister with Redeemed Christian Church of God, Ikosi-Ketu, Pastor Jamiu Ishola Kolawole has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly defrauded one of his tenants, Dr Emeka Ugwunze to the tune of N9 million in Lagos.

The incident happened at 2 Gbagada Road, Gbagada, Lagos where Ugwunze rented an apartment on a two-storey building owned by Kolawole.

The defendant is now facing Criminal charge of obtaining money under false pretence and stealing before Isolo Magistrate’s court presided by Mrs O.A. Adedayo.

57-year old Pastor Kolawole, who was once deported from abroad, approached his tenant, Dr Ugwunze and asked him to pay seven years rent arrears because he was facing financial challenges due to his deportation.

According to PM Express, about one month later, he approached Ugwunze again and informed him that he had hectares of land in his Ikorodu hometown and he needed money to perfect the land documentation so that he would sell part of the land and use the rest to build houses on the remaining.

Kolawole then told his tenant that he wanted to sell his two-storey building, and use the money to process the Ikorodu land document at the Lagos State Land Bureau.

He explained to the victim that he did not want to sell the house to another person because he had assisted him in the past.

And to prove how serious and commited, Pastor Kolawole handed over to Ugwunze all the house documents to prove to him he actually wanted to sell the house.

During the court proceedings, Kolawole admitted that Ugwunze paid him the total sum of N9 million out of the N20 million they agreed with further agreement that he would pay the balance at a further date.

After obtaining the initial money, he disappeared and refused to sign deed of transfer to Ugwunze.

When it was time to balance him the remaining N11 million, Pastor Kolawole said he had changed his mind as his family advised him against selling the house.

When Ugwunze requested that the suspect should refund the initial N9 million paid to him, it was then he allegedly started dribbling Ugwunze for almost seven years now.

The scam was reported to the Special Fraud Unit and Kolawole was arrested and charged to court.

He pleaded not guilty and was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect the bail condition.

During the trial, Kolawole admitted that he actually obtained the money and wanted to sell the house but reneged when Ugwunze defaulted by not paying the balance.

He also told the court that he actually handed the house documents and was unable to return the litigant’s money because he took him to court.

The matter was adjourned till April 11, for cross examination and continuation of trial.

Ghanaian Pastor, Mensah Otabil Says FUFU is Gradually Eliminating Africans

Pastor Mensah Otabil, the Founder of the International Central Gospel Church in Ghana, has said that 'fufu' is gradually killing Africans. According to the pastor, who was speaking at the National Convocation of the 2017 Springboard Roadshow, where he highlighted the need for a change in the attitudes of Africans, he said the process in which fufu is being made was difficult and unhygienic.

'Any food that if you have to eat you'll have to punish yourself, what's the sense in it? And the annoying thing is when you're pounding, the sweat will be going in and will be mixed, and even in the mortar, there are all kinds of bacteria in the corners.

This is an ecosystem for bacteria, 5 years and we are still pounding and people will say, that's what we like.

'It's killing us, because you know Africans we don't know what kills us, the thing is killing us but you say it's a witch because we never identify objectively the cause of the problem. Come to think of it, this fufu in this mortar is not sanitized , what impact does it have on our lives?' He added.

CAN Plead to Continue Praying Forr President Muhammadu Buhari

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has once again asked its member to continue praying for President Muhammadu Buhari until he returns back to the country hale and hearty from the United Kingdom where he has been since January 10,2017.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, on Tuesday in Abuja said the results of President’s medical tests suggested further rest.

In a swift reaction to the new development, the CAN President, Rev Dr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, on Thursday in Abuja, urged all well-meaning Nigerians especially Christians not to cease praying for the President, the acting President and the country until he returns in good health and sound mind.

Ayokunle, in a statement issued and signed on his behalf by his Special Assistant (Media and Communications); Pastor Adebayo Oladeji reminds Christians that it is their responsibility to pray for the country and her leaders in season and out of season.

“I call on all well meaning Nigerians, especially Christians not to cease praying for President Muhammadu Buhari as he takes further rest as advised by his doctors until he returns back to the country hale and hearty to continue his good works.

“It is needless reminding you that as Christians, our responsibilities include but not limited to making supplications, prayers, and intercessions, and giving thanks for our leaders and for all that are in the position of authority, ‘that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour…’” (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

The CAN President also allayed fears being expressed in some quarters that the prolonged absence of Buhari has created a vacuum in the Presidency cited the transfer of power to the Vice President “who is up to the task” unlike what happened during the Presidency of the late Umaru Yar Adua.

“We don’t see the need for any hue and cry being made by some people that his unprecedented absence could create a vacuum in the Presidency since President Buhari has done what is needful by transferring power to the Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who is up to the task.

“The Church should also continue praying for him for divine wisdom, knowledge and understanding as he discharges his constitutional responsibilities".

Meanwhile, Ayokunle called on the security agencies to rise up to the security challenges in the Southern Kaduna by flushing out the hoodlums who are still killing the innocent people despite the presence of policemen and soldiers in the area.

“We call on the security agencies in the country to stop the killings in Kafanchan despite their presence in the area, we heard of recent attacks in Atakar and Kaninkon villages of Kaura and Jema’a local government areas in the state”.

“All hands should be on deck to flush out those criminals from their hideouts in order to restore a permanent peace to the Southern Kaduna communities once and for all".

Hilarious: Lady Got Sacked From Work For Being Too Cute (Photos)

Tge lady said; "I was dismissed from my job in Soho for being too good looking"

A London TV staff claims she was dismissed from her job at a Soho production company for being “too good looking”.

Emma Hulse says she was sent home from her freelancing shift at the central London TV company by a manager who told her: “You should be on a catwalk”.

The 24-year-old, who lives in Mayfair, said she was only five minutes into her eight-hour shift when her boss told her to leave.

Company UNIT TV, based on Great Marlborough Street, accepted the incident happened and have since dismissed the employee who was allegedly involved, who had only been working there for three months.

Ms Hulse told the Standard: “We were supposed to finish at 6pm and I got there for 9.30am and when I got there this other runner started explaining to me what I should do.

“Then they send me on a run. Then my agent text me that I’m no longer required. I got there and spoke to the line manager and he asked me, ‘are you a model? Are you not doing catwalks, why are you not at the front of house?’

“I was wearing a lipstick but from my perspective I was not inappropriate. I was wearing a shirt and trousers. I really didn’t think I looked inappropriate.

“Then he took my number, he suggested we go for a drink".

She added: “I was quite disappointed to be sent home. I didn’t really know what to do.
“Maybe that company employs plain looking people and maybe if you don’t look that way they don’t take you, maybe I was a distraction.

“I do camera operating as well, I work for many different companies and no one has sent me home because of the way I look. Especially within a creative agency you should be free to wear what you want.”

Sad: Little 12yrs Old Nigerian Girl Gang R*ped and Strangled in Ghana (Photos)

A 12-year-old Nigerian girl has been strangled to death after being gang-raped by a group of men in Ghana. The girl who is a class five pupil had been on her way to her parent's shop after closing from school on Tuesday when she was attacked at Ggblo-Kpalsi, a suburb of Tamale in Ghana.

She was dragged by her attackers into an abandoned building where she was assaulted and strangled with a scarf after which her abductors fled.

Locals reported that they heard loud screams within the area and called the police but by the time the authorities arrived, only the lifeless body of the girl was found. A brightly coloured scarf, believed to be the murder weapon, was seen wrapped tightly around her neck.

Outgoing Police Public Relations Officer ASP Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed the incident to newsmen in Ghana, saying;

“The information first came as a robbery incident so police quickly dispatched a team to Ggblo Kpalsi. Police arrived at the scene timeously and we met some eye witnesses at the said suburb of Tamale but it turned out to be a homicide scene; because a 12-year-old girl was gang raped and later strangled to death.

The body was taken to the Tamale Teaching Hospital where a post-mortem was conducted to reveal blood and semen on the victim's private part. Samples of the semen have been taken for tests to help find the culprits.

The police suspect the death was either a contract killing or an attempt to hide their identity and have begun a manhunt to locate the criminals.

ASP Tetteh said;

“So far we have not arrested any suspect but we are suspecting that is either a contract killing or the parents of this particular young lady might had problems with somebody and the person wanted to extend their anger on this young innocent girl or the third scenario could be that during the act she might have identified some of these suspects and just to cover up they decided to strangle her to death".

The is wickedness and a serious step should be taken on it.
