[Video Highlight] Manchester United 3-2 Southampton (EFL Cup Final) 2016/2017

The Premier League clubs played out an eventful game in Sunday’s Wembley final, with the United forward proving to be the matchwinner

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice in Manchester United’s 3-2 Wembley final victory over Southampton on Sunday to secure the League Cup trophy for Jose Mourinho’s men.

Manolo Gabbiadini had an early goal incorrectly disallowed for offside, before Ibrahimovic struck his 25th goal of the season from a free kick.

Jesse Lingard put the Red Devils 2-0 but Gabbiadini struck either side of half time to give hope to Claude Puel’s side.

Ibrahimovic latched onto an Ander Herrera cross minutes before full time, nodding the winning goal past Fraser Forster in the Southampton goal to secure the victory, and the trophy, for United.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic Sealed The First Major Silverware of Jose Mourinho's Manchester United Reign

Cometh the hour, cometh the Zlatan..

Zlatan Ibrahimovic sealed the first major silverware of Jose Mourinho's Manchester United reign and broke Southampton's hearts as the Swedish star's late goal clinched a dramatic 3-2 victory in Sunday's League Cup final.

Ibrahimovic was one of Mourinho's marquee signings in the close-season and he repaid his manager's faith with a typically dominant display on the big occasion at Wembley.

The 35-year-old opened the scoring with a blistering free-kick before Jesse Lingard doubled United's lead.

Manolo Gabbiadini sparked a thrilling Southampton fightback, scoring just before half-time and again early in the second half.

But Ibrahimovic had the last word as his 87th minute header -- his 26th goal of the campaign -- ensured Mourinho joined United legend Sir Alex Ferguson and Nottingham Forest great Brian Clough as the only managers to win the League Cup four times.

Mourinho is the first United manager to win a top prize in his maiden season at Old Trafford, a feat not even Ferguson or Matt Busby achieved.

It was also the 54-year-old's 19th major trophy of his glittering career.

Fayose Have Been Ignored by Ekiti Senator While Ali Modu Sheriff Got Endorsed

As the Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, champions the movement against Ali Sheriff as Peoples Democratic Party chairman, a senator from his state has declared full support for Mr. Sheriff.

Mr. Sheriff has been recognised as PDP chairman by the Court of Appeal. But Fayose, who heads the PDP Governors Forum, and some party leaders have restated their opposition to Sheriff and vowed to appeal the judgement at the Supreme Court.

However, on Sunday, Fatimat Raji-Rasaki, a female senator who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District said Mr. Sheriff was the authentic national chairman of the PDP.

She made the declaration on Sunday in Ado-Ekiti while speaking with journalists at the end of a three-day capacity building training on ICT she organised for 100 beneficiaries in her constituency.

Mrs. Raji-Rasaki’s declaration comes days after another senator from Bayelsa State, Ben Murray-Bruce also declared support for Mr. Sheriff saying there was no need for further litigations.

On Sunday, Mrs. Raji-Rasaki, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Trade and Investment, said the era of impunity was dead in the PDP.

She said that the Court of Appeal judgment which affirmed Mr. Sheriff as the national chairman of PDP had afforded the party an opportunity to put its house in order.

The lawmaker, who belongs to a rival PDP faction in Ekiti different from the governor’s, said the recent developments in Ekiti and at the national level, would enable the PDP prepare ahead of the 2019 general elections.

She described the Court of Appeal judgment as a “new lease of life’’ for members of the party.

Her words; “We, the authentic PDP, are being led by Ali Modu Sheriff and we thank God that the court judgment has put an end to impunity in our party.

“Impunity is one thing that destroys any organisation or association where people decide and subscribe to rules and regulations guiding them.

“It is a pity that some people turned the PDP to a place where one person will corner everything and turn it to PLC.

“A party is supposed to be where everybody has a say because we are in a democracy.

“In Ekiti, the authentic executive has won in court as well, so in the PDP, we have no option than to obey the rule of law".

Manchester United Coach, Jose Mourinho Says Out His Football Retirement Day

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, fresh from winning the English football league cup on Sunday night, has revealed the particular moment he'll retire from the game of football.

Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea last season before he took up a job at Manchester United and after winning the EFL cup was seen looking very emotional.

Man U. won Southampton 3-2 at Wembley courtesy of a Zlatan Ibrahimovic double and one from Jesse Lingard.

It's the first major honour the Special One has won at Old Trafford - and the fourth time he's won the League Cup as a manager.

Asked why he wasn't celebrating, Mourinho said:

"It's for them, it's for the fans. I take this because I've won it four times. I take this for me. It's the first one plus the Charity Shield. For the development of the team, there's nothing better than doing it with the feeling of trophies.

He claimed that he was right to be emotional – and said that the day football stops making him feel emotional will be the day he retires. Mourinho said:

“I had my last one [trophy] here for Chelsea and it was as emotional. Winning is always special. The day I don’t get emotional when I win, that’s the time to go home".

Came back on thurday & fell ill, today ( Morning ) she started bleeding. She said her bf gave her a coconut & palmwine to drink on Tue night

Y’all gotta be very careful. Yahoo guys are using Friends, gfs, family members etc to make this money. I feel pity for this guy, so sad.

I don’t know if some girls are just naturally greedy or gullible. These things happen every time & they hear bout it but then, dey cont.

These guys are spiritual, they spend illegal money & confidently tell you “I be Yahoo guy, Wetin you wan do’… Yahoo Yahoo is now a norm

I have heard a lot about incidents. Even guys need to be very careful Cus these Yahoo guys are ready to use anybody ( even family members ).

Sad part is, some of these girls know about their bf’s Yahoo Yahoo game but being greedy won’t allow them think straight. Love of money!”

- Everyone should be careful. Desperation for money you can't work for always cause problems.

Darren Fichardt Wins The Joburg Open

South African Darren Fichardt held his nerve to birdie the 18th hole on Sunday to seal victory at the Joburg Open and book his spot at the Open Championship later this year.

The 41-year-old from Pretoria walked up to the 18th green feeling quite anxious about his final putt which he holed with the new putter and grip he put in play this week.

"I was pretty nervous when I walked up to make that final putt," said Fichardt, who was then tied on 14-under par with Stuart Manley of Wales and England's Paul Waring. "I haven't tried that putter and grip under pressure before, you don't know how badly it could go (in that situation).
"I called my caddie over just to get a bit of release but when I hit that putt and it went in the hole, that was an awesome moment".

Birdie on the 18th staved off a playoff and ensured a one-shot victory and an end to a winless streak that went back more than a year.

Congratulations.
