3 People Were Killed By Fulani Herdsmen in Delta

Three people have been killed following a clash between Fulani Herdsmen and Indigenes in Rivers state and Delta state. Two indigenes were reportedly murdered in Omumu community, Ika South Local Council of Delta State on Monday evening, while one person was killed in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni L.G.A, Rivers state following a clash between the Fulani cattle rearers and residents.

The herdsmen had cohabited peacefully with members of the community until recently when they began to engage in activities that angered the indigenes. The herdsmen, according to reports, have turned farmlands into grazing lands and destroyed goods worth so much money, causing the indigenes to confront the herdsmen, resulting in the clash which took lives.

Former party chairman of the affected Omumu community in Delta state, Chief Joel Obuchi, spoke to The Guardian, stating that if urgent steps were not taken by security agents, the activities of the nomads might result in clashes of higher scale between the cattle rearers and their host communities. He urged the state government to look into the situation.

Reacting to the killings, the Delta state Commissioner of Police, Zanna Ibrahim, said his men were on top of the situation and some men have been arrested and detained for further investigation.

Meanwhile, some Delta state indigenes are calling for an investigation into the bribery allegation made by Fulani Herdsmen that they had offered payment in cash and cattle to some indigenes, who claimed to be leaders of the community, in exchange for the freedom to graze.

Hello Teelamford Lovers!, Here is a Brive Profile of Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen

Onnoghen was born on December 22, 1950 at Okurike town, Biase local government area of Cross Rivers state.

After obtaining a law degree from the University of Legon, Ghana, he started his career as pupil state counsel at the ministry of justice, Lagos in 1978.

He practiced law for several years before he joined the bench.

He made history in Nigeria on April 11, 2014 when he, alongside some of his colleagues, made a landmark pronouncement in the case of two Igbo women, Gladys Ada Ukeje and Maria Nweke, who argued that they should have equal access as men to the inheritance of their parents.

In Igbo culture, women had been disinherited for ages as a result of tradition.

The two women sued the men in their families – and finally got justice as the case moved from the lower to the highest courts in the land.

He also upheld the death sentence meted out to Chukwuemeka Ezeugo, known as “Rev. King”, the general overseer of Christian Praying Assembly, who was accused of murdering a member of his church in 2006.

Futhermore, it was Onnoghen, who annulled Yar’Adua’s election in December 2008 and called for a fresh one, after the then Gen. Buhari argued that the election was rigged.

However, his decision, alongside other colleagues, did not hold as they did not have the required number of Justices to pull the judgement through.

Onnoghen is remarkably the first southerner to be CJN since 1987 when Ayo Irikefe retired, the cable revealed.

Leicester Manager, Roy Hodgson Talks With Premier League Champions, Leicester City

Premier League champions Leicester have held informal talks with former England boss Roy Hodgson about him becoming their new manager.

However, it is thought the 69-year-old was just one potential candidate spoken to in the search for Claudio Ranieri's replacement.

And acting boss Craig Shakespeare could stay in charge until the end of the season if results continue to improve.

Ranieri was sacked on 23 February, nine months after winning the title.

The Italian departed with the Foxes just one point above the relegation zone.

Shakespeare's first match as caretaker manager resulted in a 3-1 victory over Liverpool on Monday.
Defender Danny Simpson said Shakespeare is a "top coach and a top guy".

He said: "He has kept it simple and told us what he wanted to do, which was simple and basic, and we've done that so let's hope we can carry it on for him".

"Public perception of Hodgson is totally wrong"

Hodgson has been out of work since resigning as England coach after they lost to Iceland at Euro 2016.

But his former goalkeeping coach Dean Kiely says Hodgson should be a leading contender for the Leicester job and the public perception of the veteran manager is "totally wrong".

Kiely, who worked under him at West Brom, said: "I can see why he's on anyone's shortlist".

Hodgson, who has been managing for more than 40 years, guided Fulham to the Europa League final in 2010 and had spells in charge of Liverpool and West Brom before he got the England job in 2012.

He took the Three Lions to the quarter-finals at Euro 2012, but two years later they were eliminated at the group stage of a World Cup for the first time since 1958.

Hodgson's team won all 10 matches in qualifying for Euro 2016 but he quit after a 2-1 defeat by Iceland in the last 16 left him with a record of three victories from 11 games in major tournaments.
