"I Denied My Mum Because Of Poverty" - Famous Nigerian Musician, Skales Says

Everyone has a story; pray, work things out and remain consistent...that's the way.

For popular singer, Skales, life hasn’t always been bed of roses. Although the singer can now afford the finer things of life, in a chat with Saturday Beats, he revealed his childhood was tough.

Skales said that things were so tough for him while growing up that he used to sleep in a shopping complex with his mother.

“My father left us when I was really young; I do not even know how he looks like. My mother and I used to sleep in a shopping complex at a time. I am talking about during my primary and secondary school days in Kaduna. Then, the only hope for me was music. At some point, I told my mother I wanted to work and support her. I was chased out of school because I did not pay school fees. I had to steal school uniform because mine was bad and I would tell my mother I saved money for it.

"Also, my mother would go to my friends’ houses to do their laundry, which was embarrassing to me. I had to deny my mother. I also did not let my friends know where I lived because most of them were children of politicians. When I told my mother I was moving to Lagos, she asked me to finish my university education in Kaduna. But I convinced her I could cope. From Kaduna to Lagos, I got a free ride and the first place I stayed was Orile (Lagos). I lied to the person that gave me free ride that I would stay with him for a couple of days and it turned to months. He later started a label with some friends; they knew some people but it was not easy".

The singer who was rumoured to have fathered a child out of wedlock used the opportunity to deny the claims. In his words, he said that he does not have a baby mama and does not plan on having a child till he is married.

He hinted that he plans to get married in the next ten years.

He said, “No, I do not have any baby mama. I do not live a reckless life. I am a lover boy, I stick to a woman. But now, I am more focused on how to take my career to the next level. Everybody knows I am a very cool person. I just wake up and see stories I do not know about. There was a time I woke up and heard that a lady was pregnant for me. But the person did not show herself even when we sent out messages to the source".

"Beware!, Internet Fraudsters Are Now Using New Tricks" - Police Warn Nigerians

The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Olusola Amore, says available intelligence indicates that internet fraudsters had developed a new method they use in scamming people.

CP Amore in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, stated that the fraudsters’ earlier scam of sending out text messages to people claiming that their Bank Verification Number had been deactivated was no longer effective, hence their new strategy.

The CP said in the new trick, an e-mail would be sent to people’s phones as if it emanated from their bank’s e-mail service.

He added that the fraudsters would inform their victims that N7,000 or more had been debited from their account as subscription fee for the bank’s monthly digest magazine and that the charges would be deducted monthly.

According to him, the fraudsters would then provide a ‘scam link’ that one should click on if he wishes to stop or unsubscribe.

Once the link is clicked on, a page will open where the bank details and Automated Teller Machime information of the victim is required. If the information is provided, they are able to gain access into the victim’s personal account.
“The command is therefore using this medium to alert members of the public on this new scam method so as to guide against falling victim.
The safety of lives and property of residents of Kwara State is paramount to the command, hence, people are advised to be more vigilant", Amore said.

"I Joined Robbery To Pay My Son’s Hospital Bill" - Criminal Says

A suspected robber in the custody of the Abia State Police Command identified as Uche Udoma has confessed that he went into robbery to raise money to pay his son’s hospital bill.

The man, who claimed to be a car panel beater, said he had stayed without any job to do for a long time, adding that when he needed money to restore his son’s health, he had no option but rob.

He said, “I’m a car panel beater and I have not done any job for some time now, even when my son became sick and was hospitalised and I needed some money to pay his bill.

"That was what led me into stealing. I broke into my neighbour’s house and stole her Plasma television, but I was caught in the act and the television set was collected back from me".

It was gathered that operatives of the Anti-kidnapping Unit attached to the Umuahia Central Police Station arrested the suspect while responding to a distress call from one Dr. Chioma Okoli, whose house was burgled by the suspect at Amakama Housing Estate in Umuahia.

Items recovered from the suspect include one Plasma television among other house hold effects.

Other suspected armed robbers arrested by the police are one Chibuke Uzodinma and Odinaka Nnamani who reportedly robbed one Elizabeth Ogbonna of her Horizon Blackberry phone at gunpoint.

The suspects also allegedly robbed one Ogechi Uzodinma of her Samsung K4 phone valued at N60,000 and another HTC phone valued at N40,000 and other valuables.

Police say the suspects were arrested with the complainants’ phones, and that they have confessed to the crime, while efforts to arrest other members of the gang have been intensified.

Notorious Criminal Says He Have R*ped Not Less Than 7 Ladies (See Photo)

For 11 years, Emmanuel Nwobilo AKA Ukunwayin, a native of Umuwankwo area of Abia State, allegedly operated criminal activities of kidnapping, scam and r*pe.

By his own admission, each time he was caught by the police, the case never got to court as he always found ways of getting himself off the hook with money.

But when he landed in the net of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of Abia State Police Command recently, he was made to chronicle his crime activities on camera.

In a video posted online by an operative of SARS in the state, Nwobilo, explained that since 2006 when he had been actively involved in crime, he had r*ped up to seven ladies.

He said, “I was taught by Emmanuel Sunji, my cousin. He taught me the kidnapping business and how to defraud people. I work together with ‘Foreigner’ who is also a member of my gang".

The police said the young man he identified by the alias, Foreigner, is on the run.

According to Nwobilo’s statement, while he r*ped some of their victims, Foreigner apparently dipped his fingers in their private parts .

It was learnt that Nwobilo’s gang operate by using tricycle riders to lure their victims.

According to him, every day, he gave N1,500 to each rider to fuel their tricycles and they use this to kidnap their victims or in some cases, use them to transport victims they intend to defraud.

He said his gang made each scam victim swear an oath of secrecy about their encounter.

But some of the victims usually summoned the courage to report to the police.

He said, “I know that the police had been looking for me. I had been arrested many times in the past. But I usually settled the complainants.

“I have never been charged to court. I was once detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Umuahia on a case of a woman I defrauded of N50,000. I also r*ped the woman. But when I was arrested, I begged for the case to be settled out of court and compensated the woman with N100,000. The case was closed and I was not charged to court".

Nwobilo’s recent arrest is a result of defrauding another victim of N800,000, which he has also confessed to.

Asked what he intended to do now that he had been recaptured by SARS on allegations of kidnapping, r*pe and advance fee fraud, Nwobilo explained that he was willing to pay back any of his victims who showed up.

Few months ago, Nwobilo and his gang defrauded an unidentified woman of $10,000 (over N3m).

He was arrested alongside the individual said to be the leader of the gang. Nwobilo identified the man by the alias, ‘Double’
He said, “Double, who is our gang leader, got N1.7m out of the $10,000, while I got N840,000. Another member of our gang, Chidi, got N600,000.

“After we were arrested by the police, we were able to pay the woman back and we were cleared. The police did not charge us to court".

Nwobilo said he intended to pay back the N800,000, he was accused of obtaining from his latest victim fraudulently.

“I can pay N400,000 now and the balance later. I don’t want to go to court, this is why I am pleading to be allowed to settle the case. If while I am in custody, any of the past victims come, I can settle them too,” he said.
