"Congratulations To You On Your 80 Years Birthday" - PDP to Obasanjo

Despite his public dissociation from the party, PDP Sunday released a statement congratulating former president Olusegun Obasanjo on the occasion of his 80th birthday on March 5th. Read the press statement below..

Senator Ahmed Makarfi, CON, on behalf of all the PDP Organs and family nationwide, felicitates with the former Head of State and former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, as he joins the League of Octogenarians. We wish this Quintessential Elder Statesman joyful cheer on the Occasion of his 80th Birthday.

2. The 80th Birthday Anniversary of OBJ as he is popularly called is not only a celebration of his sojourn on earth but a combination of the series of his achievements and indelible legacies in various sectors of our political, economic and social lives in Nigeria and beyond as a Soldier, Head of State, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We Salute You Sir!

3. 3 Kidnappers Been Arrested By Police After Collecting N3m Ransom From Victim (See Photo)

The operatives of Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command over the weekend arrested three suspected kidnappers fleeing from Ibadan in Lagos after collecting N3 million ransom.

The kidnappers, Adekunle Funsho (31), Charles Ezeilo (32) and Obioha Nnaji were apprehended in Abule Egba Lagos after kidnapping a lady and collecting N3 million ransom.

The kidnappers had, after collecting the ransom fled to Lagos.

The police in Ibadan after discovering that the kidnappers were heading to Lagos with the victim’s Toyota Highlander had radioed Lagos for assistance.

RRS officials on receiving the radio signal tracked the vehicle to Fela Shrine in Ikeja, from where the alleged suspects further moved the vehicle to a compound somewhere Abule Egba, Lagos.

It was there that the officers arrested a suspect before recovering the Toyota Highlander 2005 model with the registration number LND 954 EE.

The first suspect assisted the police in the arrest of another suspect who was later apprehended in Fela's Shrine in Ikeja while another suspect simply identified as Theophilus is on the run.

According to one of the suspects, Adekunle Funsho, a fashion designer around Felele, Ibadan, where it was believed the kidnapping took place,
“Theophilus handed over the car to me in Ibadan and told me to look for a buyer for the car…. I brought the car to Lagos because I know that I would get a buyer quickly for the car. The instruction from him was that I sell the Highlander at N800, 000:00.

He stated further,

"I got a buyer In Ondo State. He has bought a car from me before, a fairly clean Toyota Corolla. He bought it N550,000:00. I took the car to him on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where he paid me before moving the car away…. Charles is my friend of over 5 years. We met at Redeemed Church, Ogba, where I was a chorister. I gave him the car to help me warehouse it for me to get a buyer. He took the car from me at Fela Shrine to his house in Abule Egba".

The case has been taken up by Anti-kidnapping team, Oyo State Police Command, for further investigations.

Tragedy: 7 People Died In An Horrific Car Crash In South Africa

A horrific car accident has caused the death of seven people in Limpopo, South Africa. The accident occurred in Uisterburg on the R101 outside Polokwane, after a small car collided head on with an oncoming taxi carrying passengers. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says both drivers are amongst those who died on the spot.

“Seven people were killed during a fatal accident along R101 road outside Polokwane when two motor vehicles, that is a sedan and a taxi, collided head-on. Six died on the spot the seventh died on the way to the hospital.

Other passengers are still recuperating in hospital. We don’t know the cause of this accident at this stage but we are still investigating” he said.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose Tells President Muhammadu Buhari to Speak With Him to Prove He is Fine

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, has asked President Buhari to speak with him to prove that he is indeed healthy. President Buhari who has been in the UK for over a month now, has been speaking on the phone to some APC governors, Foreign presidents as well as some of his media aides. In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary media aide, Idowu Adelusi, Fayose gave out a phone number he could be reached at.

”I advised the President to speak with me for the purpose of convincing Nigerians that he is hale and hearty instead of looking for people outside the country to convince Nigerians. If their problem is that they are looking for a credible person who can help them convince Nigerians that all is well with our President, Ayo Fayose is their best bet. Let the president speak with me. If I tell Nigerians that the president spoke with me, Nigerians will believe. Since they are eager for the president to speak to people; believing in this way to convince Nigerians that their President is hale and hearty, let President Buhari talk to me.

The people gave him the very important platform of President on which he stands today and, therefore, Presidential aides should stop giving the unhelpful impression that Buhari has no respect for the Nigerian electorate".

"I Did Not Say Cristiano Ronaldo Doesn't Have to Work as Hard as His Teammates" - Sergio Ramos Says

Real Madrid defender and captain Sergio Raos has denied reports making the rounds that he told his teammates that Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't have to run/work as hard as his teammates during games. Real Madrid beat Eibar 4-1 on Saturday, a much better display to the 3-3 draw with Las Palmas last week, and Spanish TV show “Jugones” claimed last week that Ramos verbally attacked his team mates Isco and Alvaro Morata during a team meeting at halftime of the Palmas game.

The TV show also claiming that the defender also reportedly said that Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t have to work as hard as others in the squad, or run as much as his teammates due to his status.

Ramos has now come to deny such reports, saying they are false and fabricated. 'It is not true.' Ramos said to reporters after the Eibar win.

'You have to inform yourselves, look at the evidence and tell the truth. We got together at half-time against Las Palmas, what we talked about did not leave there and I am glad of that. 'The other day I did not say Cristiano does not have to run, we all run here. We are all equals and the key is in our competitiveness.'
