Police Arrested 50 Years Old Nigerian Woman For Selling a 3 Years Old Girl (See Photos)

A 50-year-old grandmother, Rita Eze, has confessed to being a member of a syndicate that involved in "abducting" children from Lagos and selling them in Anambra State.

Madam Eze was paraded along with one Ogochi Nwekei and Gladys Augustine at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja yesterday. The fourth suspect, Elizabeth, who was said to be ill, was not paraded.

Augustine, who claimed to be Mary John, had connived with one Samuel, who is at large, to abduct 3-year-old Oluwasemilore Adebiyi, from her parents’ residence in Alagbado area of Lagos.

To hatch the plan, 28-year-old Augustine enrolled for beads-making apprenticeship at Oluwasemilore’s mother’s shop in January, giving her name as Mary John. She fled to Anambra with the girl seven days after.

The girl was handed over to Eze, who confessed to selling her to Elizabeth through Nwekei, for N500,000. Oluwasemilore was, however, recovered by the police after Augustine was arrested in the Badagry area of Lagos on February 23.

It was further reported that some parents from different parts of the state had stormed the command and identified Augustine as the abductor of their children, saying the suspect adopted the same gimmick with which Oluwasemilore was abducted.

The victims included four-year-old Farouk and his sister, Kafayat, 6, who were allegedly abducted in the Okokomaiko area in November 2016. The children had yet to be found.

But Augustine denied abducting the kids, saying, Oluwasemilore was her first abduction. She said Samuel had lied to her that he and Oluwasemilore’s mother, Tobiloba Adebiyi, gave birth to the girl, but she (Tobiloba) denied him access to the girl.

The Cross River State indigene stated that Samuel introduced Eze to her as his mother and promised her N50,000 if the plan worked out.

She said, “I came to Lagos in 2010 and I worked as a housemaid. I used the money I got to open a shop. Eventually, I was sent away from the shop and I needed money to start another business. I met Samuel at Mowo bus stop in Badagry in January.

“He said he impregnated a woman and the woman (Tobiloba) left him to marry another man. He said he wanted to get back the child, but the woman refused. He asked me to work for the woman in order to snatch the child and he promised to give me N50,000. On the day I snatched the girl, I took her to a bus stop and bought her a snack.

“When I took the girl to Samuel, he said I should take her to his mother, Mrs. Eze, in Anambra. He said he would tell the girl’s mother that he was the one who took her. I later returned to Lagos, thinking he had told the woman. I was surprised when the police arrested me.”

Madam Eze told Punch that she took N40,000 from the proceed, gave Augustine N60,000, sent the remaining sum to Samuel. She added that she used the money to pay the rent on her apartment.

She said, “I met Michael in December 2016 at a party in Awka through a secondary school friend, who is an aunt to him. He told me that he impregnated a woman in Lagos and that he would send the child to me to help take care of her. When Gladys (Augustine) brought the girl, Samuel told me to sell her for N500,000.

“I informed Ogochi (Nwekei) and she said one of her friends, Elizabeth, wanted to buy a child. Elizabeth paid N500,000. Samuel told me to give Augustine N50,000 and another N10,000 for her transport back to Lagos, while I got N40,000. I sent the remaining N400,000 to Samuel. I used the money to pay my house rent. I have five children and grandchildren.”

Sixty-year-old Nwekei said she only facilitated the sale of the girl, claiming that she did not receive anything from the money.

“I told Rita (Eze) that a friend, Elizabeth, wanted to adopt a child and she promised to call me whenever she got one. One day, she called me that a child was brought to her. I asked her whether there would not be any problem and she assured me that there would be none. I didn’t know it would turn out this way,” she added.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, while briefing journalists on the arrest, said the suspects would subsequently be charged to court.

The Boss of Popular Musician, Patoranking Been Accused By His Wife For Allegedly Beating Her Up (See Photos)

Marriages today, you need the grace of God to succeed in it, not just focusing on flashy things and all the frivolities that occupy peoples' head these days. Another marriage troubles.

Owner of Patoranking's record label, Foston Utomi's wife and mother of his child, accused him of domestic violence. She said he beat her up for hours, locked all the doors so she wouldn't be able to escape and threatened to kill her.

Read what she wrote and see the photo she shared...

In this day my darling husband saw his wife and mother of his child bleeding on the floor but was still hugging and puffing. Swearing on his mothers life that that was going to be my last day on earth. Swearing that he would enter blogs as the next man who killed his wife. I can't help but imagine 2 conductors on the street fighting, 2 strangers. When one starts to bleed the other would think "ha make I calm down oh" talk less of beating your defenseless wife who did Nothing to you (or please ask him, what I did, I would love to be able to make sense of this, love to know my offense). He showed no mercy, still said to me that I was going to drown in my blood. He locked all doors, even balconies invade I wanted to jump out! The man I loved striped to his underwear in front of my friend and the abuse went on for hours, he had 2 of his own friends in the house and even they weren't enough to stop him, he was exchanging blows with them, just to get to me. It was as though he had 5 men inside him, determined to kill me.

I excaped only by the grace of God. My friend and I were running on the street with blood on me like this and people wondering what happened to us. And this was just one day. I can write a book on the living hell I lived. And it's you, who has the guts to bring this to instagram? You are not even worthy of being a role model to your son yet You think you a motivational speaker now?

Policy of Controversial Motor Duty For Customs Service Of Nigeria Been Suspended

Following the faceoff with the senate and the public outcry, the Nigeria Customs Service NCS, has announced the suspension of its controversial new motor duty policy.

The policy which was to take effect next month, proposed that vehicle owners should visit the nearest Customs office to ascertain if their vehicle duties were fully paid for or not by their vehicle importer. If not paid for, they are to pay for it or have their vehicles impounded...

This has generated a lot of controversy, resulting in the Senate mandating the Comptroller General of NCS, Hameed Ali, to appear before it today dressed in his unifotm. The Customs boss in a letter to the Senate, said he would not appear before the house as he has an urgent meeting. Hameed however met with Saraki at the National Assembly yesterday evening and it was resolved that the policy should be suspended.

Read a statement released by NCS announcing the suspension, below..

"Following the unnecessary tension generated as a result of misconception and misrepresentation of the Nigeria Customs Service planned motor duty payment, the leadership of the National Assembly and the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd) met with a view to resolving the impasse. They both agreed that the proposed motor duty payment, though in line with the provision of Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) Cap C.45, LFN 2004 should be put on hold while the Senate Committee on Customs & Excise interfaces with the NCS for further discussions.

2. While payment of duty on vehicles or indeed any dutiable imported item remains a civic responsibility of every patriotic Nigerian, NCS Management has directed that the exercise be put on hold while expressing readiness to engage the Senate Committee on further discussions to bring them on board to understand the importance of the exercise to national security and economy".

Customs Boss, Kameed Ali Says He Won't Appear Before Court On Wednesday

A serious political drama is in the making. Colonel Hameed Ali is not a man who's looking for job. In fact it took time before he resumed after he was appointed by President Buhari. His own is to deliver, but Dino Melaye and some set of Senator want to prove that they can force him to wear uniform.

The appointed Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, Hameed Ali, has told the Senate that he would not appear before the lawmakers on Wednesday as it coincided with the routine management of the NCS.

The Customs boss asked the upper chamber of the National Assembly fix another date for his appearance. Ali’ s letter was read to lawmakers at the plenary on Tuesday.

The letter was signed by an Assistant Comptroller General.

The Senators blasted Ali for relegating the Senate and for failing to personally sign the letter.
