"I Am Inspired By Goddess, Oshun" - Atlanta Based Drag Queen

An Atlanta based drag queen, Cordero Minnis has revealed that he is inspired to be a drag queen by the Yoruba deity, Oshun. According, him, he is not a victim neither is he crazy but merely embraced the 'her' in him. He wrote;
Ifa tradition tells us that when #Oshun left, all sweet water dried up on earth, and pestilence ensued. It was not until the divine feminine had returned that peace was restored. Today, we demonize the "Feminization of the Black Man". But, a black man embracing and embodying the divine feminine is among the most beautiful things the earth can experience. Duality is a gift, my dear!
No one/thing has feminized me. I am not a victim. I am not confused, sick or crazy. I have embraced Her - the "Her" that exists in us all and gives us all our existence. My fixation with drag is my devotion to Her - The Divine Feminine! - SYRAJA

UNICAL Student Got Shot By Cultists In The School ‘Love Garden’

A student was on Tuesday shot by fleeing cultists at an area designated as ‘love garden’ inside the University of Calabar, hostel area.

The shooting came on the heels of heightened clash between KKK and Vikings that has claimed the lives of at least 13 persons following the assassination of a lecturer in Department of Accounting, University of Calabar, Dr. Emmanuel Igbeng.

The state Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, disclosed that the unidentified student that was shot was rescued and rushed to a hospital, adding that the victim was responding to treatment.

“At UNICAL hostel, some students were shooting; they shot somebody, but the person did not die. Some of the cultists were arrested and recoveries were made in the process,” he said.

The Public Relations Officer of UNICAL, Eyo Effiong, in a statement, said two out of the fleeing cultists were apprehended by the institution’s security team.

Effiong gave the names of the apprehended students as David Charles Job and Godwin Okpomo.

He said, “It should be noted that for the past few days, incidents of violence leading to loss of lives have been reported in Calabar. This, we gather, stemmed from the resurgence of cult rivalry among alleged cult groups in the city.

“Acting on the strength of a reliable intelligence tip-off that some of the cultists, in a bid to escape from their ‘perceived enemies’ had sneaked into the campus, the Chief Security Officer and his team went on a ‘stop and search’ mission round the campus.

“In the process of executing their mission, they met six young men seated together around the Hostel Area designated ‘Love Garden’ meant for recreation.”

Senators Got Angry For Failure of Customs Boss, Hameed Ali, to Appear Today

Customs boss Hameed Ali will not appear before the Senate today. Some Senators are insisting that the Comptroller-General should appear “in uniform” to explain the planned enforcement of duty collection on old vehicles.

Ali told reporters in Abuja that he would stay away from the Senate in deference to a court order.

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami also wrote to the Senate, urging it to suspend its invitation to the Customs CG because of the court matter.

But the Senate insisted that no court could stop it from carrying out its constitutional duty. A source said the lawmakers might consider issuing a warrant for Col. Ali’s arrest.

Col. Ali said, ”Somebody has sued us. It is subjudice. I have got my writ of summons and they said status quo ante should remain, which means nothing should move until the court makes a pronouncement,” he said, adding: “A private individual sued all of us; he wants an interpretation of the section that is in contention. I don’t want to talk so that I am not held in contempt of court.”

The plantiff is Mohammed Ibrahim, a lawyer.

The originating summons in the suit with the National Assembly and the Attorney General of the Federation as defendants seek, among many other things, a clarification on “whether the appointment of Ali by the President, having been made pursuant to sections 5 and 171 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) can be subjected to the provisions of the Customs and Excise Act or any other law; whether there is any legal provision that prescribes the wearing of uniform as a condition precedent by the 1st defendant (Ali) in view of his appointment under Section 171 of the 1999 Constitution (as emended).

Col. Ali also told some reporters: “Based on the advice from lawyers and briefing from the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice who is also a party in the suit, I won’t be appearing before the Senate tomorrow until the court decides”.

Pregnant Woman Killed, Churches and Other Property Got Destroyed By Rainstorm (See Photos)

Several residents of the Agbado-Oke Odo Local Council Development Area of Lagos have been rendered homeless after their houses were damaged by a rainstorm on Monday.

No fewer than 100 houses and 13 churches were destroyed by the rainstorm. Schools, shops, filling stations, fences, electric poles and trees were damaged by the storm, which residents said lasted for about one hour.

Sadly, after the dust had settled, a seven-month pregnant woman, identified only as Basirat, was found dead inside a church.
The communities were still counting their losses when a Punch man visited the area on Tuesday.

It was gathered that the affected communities included Peace Estate, Ikola-Eleyin, Ikola-Odunsi, Liberty Estate, Ikola-Powerline and Oke-Ishagun, among others.

Each has several community development associations and consisted of no fewer than 10 streets.

Some residents were observed repairing their buildings, while those whose houses were levelled sat beside the rubble.

The roofs of houses and schools blown off by the storm littered the roads.

Basirat, who was said to be about 27 years old, was reportedly asleep inside a canopy-covered orthodox church when the rainstorm blew the church away.

A woman, whose house was beside the church, explained that the victim had attempted to escape when she was hit by a thunderbolt.

She said, “Basirat came to observe Igbele (spiritual confinement) in the church. She had several miscarriages and stillbirths and that was why she was brought to the church.

When the rainstorm started, it blew off the church’s canopy. The woman, who was aroused from sleep, stood up to flee, but was struck down by a thunderbolt. She fell on her stomach and died.”

The resident took Punch to her house, which collapsed and the roof blown off. It was observed that appliances in the house were burnt, including sockets and cables.

She said there was no electricity at the time of the storm, and that her generator was also not on. So what led to the fire? No one could tell.

Also, a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Fatai, who lived in Ikola-Powerline, lamented that they and their three children had been rendered homeless. Their house was levelled by the rainstorm.
