Court Sentenced Man To Life In Jail For Allegedly Killing Girlfriend's Little Son

A man who beat his girlfriend's five-year-old son to death simply because he lost one of his trainers has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Marvyn Iheanacho, 39, of Wesley Avenue, Hounslow, but of Nigerian origin was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 18 years (less time already served) at Woolwich Crown Court on Tuesday, 25 July after being found guilty of the murder of Alex Malcolm.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Lynes, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "Iheanacho subjected that poor little boy to a brutal assault after flying into an uncontrollable rage just because Alex lost one of his shoes.

"Afterwards Iheanacho came up with various stories to try to cover his tracks, insisted his girlfriend lie for him and attacked her when she tried to get medical help for her unconscious son.

"It is no surprise the jury easily saw through his stories and while nothing can bring Alex back, I hope Iheanacho's conviction today provides his mother and father, and their families with some comfort."

The court heard that on 20 November 2016, Iheanacho had spent the day with his girlfriend, Alex's mother, and Alex. Later that afternoon he said he wanted to go out to get a DVD and see a friend and would take Alex with him.

CCTV showed the pair getting on a bus at 16:39hrs heading towards Rushley Green. They were then seen walking towards Mountsfield Park in Catford, arriving around 17:15hrs.

They went to the play area.

Just before 18:00hrs, a witness heard Iheanacho shouting at Alex after he realised the boy had lost his shoe.

Through the park gates she saw Iheanacho and described him as "raging" at Alex who was keeping very quiet.

She then heard repeated booming noises and saw the gate vigorously moving as if it was being punched by someone.

The witness's dogs began barking and the punching stopped. She saw Iheanacho bending over Alex and whispering to him before they moved away.

Another witness heard the loud banging, a male voice screaming about the lost shoe and a child's voice fearfully saying sorry.

The prosecution said the banging noise was Iheanacho assaulting Alex.

8 Easy Ways Broken Relationships Can Be Reconcile

Broken relationships are the result of a broken world. They are bound to happen. Yet the disappointment, heartbreak, and emptiness never seem to sting us any less.

When this happens, there are two reactions that follow: locking our heart to future hurt or grappling with the process of forgiveness.

“Forgive us of our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,” we say in the Lord’s Prayer. As Christians if we choose to follow a Christ-like life, we cannot lock our hearts to hurt. We must choose the path to forgiveness every time. What does that look like? Where do we even begin?

Below are 8 Easy Ways Broken Relationships Can Be Reconcile.

(1). Emotionally (and physically) step back.
Sometimes, out of sheer desperation, we find ourselves overcrowding our thoughts and hearts with a relationship gone wrong. Where did we go wrong? What could we have done to avoid this? Will the relationship be able to recover?

It exhausts us! When we emotionally, and even physically, step back from a relationship, we are able to come to grips with our current emotional and spiritual state. We are able to understand ourselves and our situation with a more rational perspective. We are able to better take care of ourselves.

The answer to mending relationships never begins with impatience or a distracted heart. Jesus tells us, “Peace be with you,” for a reason!

(2). Go to church.
What better place to begin cleansing your soul than with Jesus? Church is not made for the perfect, it is a place for the sick. It is a house for those that need healing.

Even if it takes all of you--loneliness, heartbreak, defeat and all--take a seat and listen to Word. Listen to the message for the service. God knows every corner of your heart. How is He using this time for your spiritual, emotional, and physical healing?

(3). Examine your conscience.
There are two sides of every story. Because there is hurt, misunderstanding, and pain in a certain relationship, there is dissonance in the stories. Without excuses, where have you fallen short in this relationship? Where might you have sinned?

None of us are perfect. When your child screamed at you, did you scream back? When your friend did something that disagreed with you, did you gossip? When your parents asked something of you, did you disobey? When your coworker asked for a favor, did you make an excuse (lie)?

Understand your faults. The first step to recovery is admitting there is a problem.
(4). Find solutions.
Once you understand your faults, find the solutions.

So your child has a temper and can lash out; how can you de-escalate the situation in the future? So your friend is behaving unfavorably; can you make time to sit down and confront the situation?

How can you remain an example of Christ in situations that have headed south or are heading south fast?

(5). Practice your virtues.
It is not enough to call ourselves Christian by name. We are also required to act like it. In the breaking points, when we find ourselves at our wit’s end, our pride can be at an all-time high. Why can’t they see my side? Don’t they see how much they hurt me? They have to apologize first.

In these moments, it is most important to practice humility. It’s important to practice our patience. It’s important to show perseverance and not give up. Jesus humbled himself for us, dying on a cross. Jesus is patient with us through our sins and setbacks. Jesus pursues us again and again, no matter how many times we fail him.

To follow Christ, we must follow in His example in all aspects of our lives and act as he would.
(6). Communicate with contrition.
Contrition: the state of feeling remorse. In some situations, we will need to be the first to reach out. At this point, we’ve reflected on the relationship. We understand what went wrong and we know the ideal solution.

From here, we have to step back into the ring. We must face our loved one--family, friend or coworker--and communicate with contrition. This requires serious humility and patience. When we communicate with contrition, we show our loved ones that we value their relationship over our differences and past transgressions.

We are sorry for the turn our relationship has taken, and we want to recover from it.
(7). Give it time.
Let’s be honest: Depending on the relationship, it may not be restored right away. If this relationship has been damaged for a long time, there is healing that the loved one will have to go through in order to bring their best self back to you.

Remember that you have built yourself up for this moment. It is their turn to take personal stock of their emotional and spiritual state. Sometimes all we can do is show patience and a willingness to cooperate and support the other.
(8). Love, love, love. Repeat.
Finally, do not forget to shower your relationships with love and compassion. Answer every situation with love, just as the Lord answers to us with only love. Broken relationships are hard; they hurt and we hate to suffer. Yet Jesus suffered for us so that we could be saved. Let us suffer for those we love, because these relationships are worth saving too.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

Tech: For India To Protect Her Solar Manufacturing Sector: WTO, Suitable Policy Changes Should Be Made

India has to make suitable policy changes by December this year to remove measures it had undertaken to protect its fledgling solar manufacturing sector from foreign competition, according to a recent notice issued by the Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). DSB adjudicates on trade disputes between national governments.

“The United States and India have agreed that the reasonable period of time for India to implement the recommendations and rulings of the DSB in the dispute ‘India – Certain Measures Relating to Solar Cells and Solar Modules (WT/DS456)’ shall be 14 months from the 14 October 2016, date of adoption of the DSB recommendations and rulings. Accordingly, the reasonable period of time expires on 14 December 2017,” DSB said in a communication on 16 June.

“We have been given time till December and have been asked to complete all on-going projects. We will not be able to keep the provision of a secure market for Indian suppliers. Even Indian projects, which are owned by the private sector, cannot have Domestic Content Requirement (DCR),” said an official in India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). “However, WTO permits us to do projects by the government. So, if the government or its public sector units are undertaking a project, they have the provision of DCR.”

On 6 February 2013, the United States had requested consultations with India concerning certain measures of the country relating to domestic content requirements for solar cells and solar modules. The matter reached the level of a dispute, was taken to the WTO, and was settled in October 2016 in the favour of the US. The June statement comes after India accepted the ruling.

The December deadline is not a surprise, according to Raj Prabhu, CEO and co-founder of Mercom Capital Group, a clean energy consultancy. “Public sector units were already reluctant to tender DCR projects due to cost issues. The government has finally realised that it has to pay from its own pockets to pursue protectionist policies,” he told indiaclimatedialogue.net . “Some manufacturers will lose out, but most have not invested in R&D, so the result is not unexpected.”

According to Bridge to India, a renewable consulting firm, India provided some breathing room to local manufacturers through DCR and toyed briefly with anti-dumping duties. However, such protectionist measures have not helped local manufacturing anywhere in the world and the share of imports in India has continued to go up from 74 percent in 2014-15 to 89 percent in 2016, it said.

There are no real threats to the Indian solar industry in the short-term, Prabhu said. “The government is all for lowest power prices and it is doubtful they will disrupt the markets when they are getting solar power at cheaper prices than coal.

With DCR tenders disappearing, some manufacturers will fail, but most of the jobs in solar are in project development and not manufacturing.”

The Indian solar sector had brushed aside any worries earlier as well. However, there had been some concern just after the WTO ruling came out.

Madhavan Nampoothiri, founder-director of RESolve Energy Consultants, also believes there will be no major impact due to this ruling. However, the capacity utilisation of domestic manufacturers, which is already low at an industry level, could go down further, Nampoothiri said.

The MNRE official said private developers who own a project, and install and develop it on their own and then sell power to the discoms will not have the DCR component.

But projects owned and undertaken by government-owned National Thermal Power Corporation, Coal India or Solar Energy Corporation of India will continue to have the local content policy. “We have a scheme called Central Public Sector Units (CPSU) and, under this, there was a target of 1,000 MW. Now, we are in the process of bringing the second phase of this scheme, which will have a target of 7,500 MW,” he said. “Once that comes, the Indian industry supplier will have an adequate market.”

Prabhu explains that even when the DCR category was in place, Indian manufacturers were way behind the Chinese. “As of now, there is no competition between the two as Indian solar manufacturers form a negligible part of the global solar manufacturing industry. Solar tariffs have been going down largely due to cheaper Chinese modules, for example, in Rewa, Kadapa and the Bhadla solar parks. The Indian solar market is completely dependent on Chinese modules now and the Chinese are subsidising Indian solar installations.”

“It is a fact that our suppliers are not competitive enough. Their prices are higher than the imported ones and that is precisely the reason why for the developer mode projects, they would always opt for the cheaper Chinese modules, since they have to compete,” said the MNRE official. “When it comes to bidding for a tariff, the cheapest one will give benefits, so they opt for it. This is unfortunate but is the case now.”

Bridge to India suggests that instead of considering a short-term response to this issue, “the Indian government should consider long-term implications for the sector and send a clear policy signal to reduce uncertainty for all stakeholders.” India’s National Solar Mission talks of creating a domestic manufacturing supply chain. However, market dynamics have not supported that vision, says Prabhu.
“Currently, the Indian module manufacturing business model is built on importing Chinese cells and assembling them in India.”

The MNRE official said that the Indian government doesn’t want to remain dependent on imported solar cells modules and is committed to supporting the industry. “We will ensure that some kind of policy is always in place to support the solar industry,” he said.

Tech: YouTube Video Editor and Photo slideshow About To Shutdown

In a bid to focus on building new tools and improve on existing features, YouTube is letting off its Video Editor and Photo slideshow feature on 20 September this year.

A YouTube representative in Google’s product forums announced that it has observed limited usage of these two features, which is why they have decided on shutting them down. The representative informed users that they would have two months to finalize any video projects, before turning off the feature completely.

For the features that will no longer be available, the team suggests that users take help from third party editing software.

However, YouTube has also said that videos which have been published using the Video Editor would not be affected.

The video streaming and creation network will retain its Enhancement feature, where it allows basic editing features like trimming a video, adding filters or end screens. Tools like Subtitles and Sound effects will be retained as well. Even Quick fixes that essentially adds effects like contrasts, slow motion and more will remain as they were.

Last year, YouTube had rolled out new features for creators to engage better with the community. Creators could hand pick great comments to pin to the top of the comments section. This serves a dual purpose of showing fans what kinds of comments creators appreciate, or highlight the important aspects about the video.

Currently enabled for key WBTC transit routes, the service will soon be expanded to the remaining routes. “This is yet another attempt to bring smart public transport to Kolkata and to improve the performance of WBTC,” added Transport Department Minister Subhendu Adhikari.

To use this new feature, commuters should open Google Maps app on Android or iOS devices. Enter the destination and tap the ‘get directions’ icon. If it’s not already selected, tap the ‘transit’ icon (the little tram) to view times, bus/train numbers, routes and more. You’ll see the real-time arrival information in green.

Tonto Dikeh Advice Nigerians, Says Control Your Tongue and Control Your Life

After spilling much of her broken marriage, it seems she has finally realized that silence is Golden!

The mother of one wrote:

  • Good morning beautiful people (Sharing from ROR)
*Control Your Tongue, Control Your Life*
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body (James 3:2). The words you speak are a true measure of your spirituality. It makes no difference what others might think or say about you; what matters are the words that come out of your mouth every day, irrespective of who you may be talking to: God, men, yourself, circumstances, or nature. Be sure you always, speak gracious, faith-filled, and spirit-building words. Tame your tongue.
The Apostle James likened the tongue to the rudder of
a great ship that the captain uses to navigate the ship aright, irrespective of the fierce winds driving against it (James 3:4-5). This means that with your words, you can keep yourself in health, in faith, in success, and in the transcendent life. Don’t talk fear, lack or your inabilities. Talk the Word! Consciously put the Word on your lips.
Isn’t it wonderful that with your tongue, you can disallow sickness, disease, infirmity, and weakness from your body? Always speak health and strength to your body. Many are sick, weak, broke and suffering today because of their careless talking through the years. Get your tongue under control and have your life under control!
Use your tongue to come out of trouble, depression, sickness, pain, poverty, and frustration. Today, where you are, and what you are in life, are the result of your words. If the result isn’t such that you’re pleased with, you can consciously begin to chart a new course, and decide what the next five or ten years will be like for you. If the results are already wonderful, you can walk in greater glory and higher levels of success if you use your tongue right. Jesus said you shall have what you say. Therefore, use your tongue to beautify your life (Mark 11:23)
