Staffs of Ondo State Polytechnic Commenced Strike
Lecturers at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo in Ondo State have commenced a strike over the refusal of the school management to pay their arrears.
The lecturers, under the aegis of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), are demanding the payment of arrears accruing over N1.7 billion.
The polytechnic lecturers in the school said they are owed ten months of arrears and that promises made by the authorities to resolve the matter have not been fulfilled.
They are also demanding the payment of sixteen months’ worth of Consolidated Polytechnic Salary Structure (CONPOCASS) allowance.
A source in the school said the union leaders have exhausted their strength in negotiations with the university authorities and were therefore left with no choice but to strike,
The source said the union leaders have also accused the management of the institution of being insensitive to the plight of the lecturers and staff members of the school.

Opposition Leaders Been Banned In Gabon From Leaving The Country
Just of recent, on Sunday Gabon announced a ban on opposition leaders, including former top African Union official Jean Ping, from leaving the country in what it said was a "temporary, administrative measure".
"This measure follows inflammatory comments by Jean Ping on August 18 when he called for public disorder, rebellion and insurrection," interior ministry spokesman Jean-Eric Nziengui Mangala said.
Ping, a 74-year-old career diplomat, was narrowly defeated by incumbent Ali Bongo in Gabon's August presidential election and accused the administration of electoral fraud.
A number of demonstrations have been held in support of Ping in cities around the country, leading to numerous arrests and clashes with police in the capital and the seaport of Port-Gentil.
On August 18, Ping called on the Gabonese "to rise up as one to solemnly mark (his) rise to power".
Mangala said the "temporary administrative measure" is aimed at leaders of political parties and others at the heart of the Coalition for the New Republic (CNR), which supports Ping.
The directive has affected former prime minister Casimir Oye Mba, who was scheduled to leave for France on Friday.
"At the airport, the police told me I couldn't leave and that they were only following orders," he said, adding that it was the third time that such a measure has prevented him from leaving Gabon.

Taylor Swift Spotted As The Bridesmaid At Friend's Wedding (See Photos)
Taylor Swift was seen at her best friend Abigail Anderson's wedding on Saturday. That's the same Abigail who she went to high school with and wrote the 2009 hit, Fifteen, about.
The 27-year-old looked stunning in a halter maroon gown with an A-line bottom as she tended to her pretty blonde friend at the splashy nuptials in Martha's Vineyard, a Massachusetts island that sits in the Atlantic Ocean just south of Cape Cod.
The pop star - who just released her revenge song Look What You Made Me Do earlier this week - seemed to keep her head down as she stayed behind the bride while they walked into a church.
Taylor wore her medium-length blonde hair down and in soft curls. She also had long bangs and matched her wine-colored lip to match her floor-length dress and had on flattering dark eye makeup. See full photo below..

A statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said Adelusi was relieved of his duty over “dereliction of duty.”
The statement, which was announced on the state-owned radio station, did not explain the specific offence committed by Adelusi.
But a source in the Governor’s Office said Adelusi was sacked because he failed to organise adequate media coverage for the Eid prayer in Ado Ekiti, which the governor attended on Friday.

''Its All Because She Is Better Than Nigerian Ladies'' - Nigerian Man Who Married Older American Woman Reveals Reason
US-based Muiz Adebiyi is married to an older American, Susan Smith. He talks about the over two-year-old marriage and why he took the decision to marry an older partner.
I am attracted to her because she is very cool, loving, understanding and protective. She has a better behaviour than slay mamas.
We had known each other for two years before we decided to get married three years after.
There were issues when we first declared our intentions to get married but our family members later understood that age is just a number and that love does not have limit. We are quite in love and happy with ourselves.
We both apologise when there are disagreements. But she does that first and more than I do because she is a wise wife who knows that the husband is the head of the house. She knows what marriage means.
I know that most people will think that I married her for the green card but I do not care because I was already a US citizen and that’s not from her.
We celebrate our wedding anniversary the same way godly people do theirs. We always go to the mall, do shopping and visit the pool side.
My wife is far better than Nigerian ladies in every positive way. She is a wife material.

When asked if she had plans to make "On Becoming" into a book and if she had plans to write more books, she said;
"We have been getting offers to adapt the book into a film; we’re just taking our time. We’re basking in all of them, the tours, the sales and all of it. Surprisingly, Nigerians read a lot, and the records are there to show for it. The feedbacks and love are beyond measures. I never imagined the book to be this successful. I am thankful to God for the vision and also, the strength to go through it, because, to whom much is given, much is expected. I will let you know if there’s going to be visuals as time goes on.
On Becoming’ is an open ending title, so it’s definitely going to be a series of many books to come. My next book could be ‘On Becoming a Media Mogul’ ‘On Becoming a Wife’ ‘On Becoming a Mother’. I am really excited at the way my career is going and the events happening around. I am putting pen to paper, so you never know what next I might be sharing with the world".

Ajimobi also added that the institution’s school fees might be reviewed to make it self sustaining.
The governor disclosed this on Saturday in Ibadan, while featuring on a programme, ‘Saturday Special,’ aired on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Ajimobi said since he assumed office in 2011, his administration had paid N22bn to the institution.
He described the amount being paid as school fees in LAUTECH as “abysmal.”
“The default in the payment of subvention and salaries was as a result of economic downturn. When we came on board, we reduced the school fee to N65,000.
“There are secondary schools that charge between N150,000 and N200,000, while some universities charge between N500,000 and N2m. To date, we have heavily subsidised LAUTECH.
Imagine, the institution has 99 accounts and some could not be traced,” he said.
The governor added that the government had taken steps to resolve the crisis in the university, among which was the auditing of its account to determine its viability to be
self-sustaining.
He disclosed that the government had constituted the institution’s governing council which would submit its report after the holiday.
He promised that the crisis in the university would soon be over and the institution would be given a take-off grant for three months

According to the YBNL boss, he was lucky to have fulfilled his own dream despite dropping out of school, but they might not be that lucky. He however assured that, if only his parents were able to pay his school fees back then, he would have stayed to be a graduate today.
While advising youths, Olamide said;
“I was lucky to achieve my dreams despite dropping out of school. I left the university because my parents were not able to pay my tuition fees; as such, leaving school wasn’t of my own making. If there was money, I definitely would have remained in school. You don’t have to drop out of school to fulfill your dreams. However, if due to one reason or the other, you are unable to complete your education, you should also know that you can still succeed regardless.”
