'When All Nigerians Can Eat Three Square Meals, That’s When The Real Recession Ends' - Atiku Abubakar

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that recession in Nigeria will come to an end only when average Nigerians begin to eat three square meals daily. He said news report that Nigeria is officially out of recession is positive but more work is needed to make things better.

As seen on his verified Twitter handle. Atiku said this in a series of tweets. See below:
“As a Nigerian, investor and employer of labour, the news of Nigeria’s official emergence from the recession is most welcome.

“The news is surely a boost for Nigeria — it tells investors, local and foreign, that our economy is worth investing in.

“While we rejoice, it’s also important to recognise that economic weakness at the bottom of the pyramid remains. Inflation is still high.

“We must continue working hard to expand economic opportunity for all Nigerians.

“When all Nigerians can eat three square meals, that’s when the real recession ends. We have work to do.”

As A Christian, These Are What You Need To Do In Other To Build Up Your Faith And Make It Strong

The more I have read through the Bible over the years, the more I have come to identify with different key players in the story of Scripture.

When we pick up the story right after Jesus was raised from the dead in John 20:24, we read that Thomas was not around when Jesus came to visit his disciples. He missed the action, and his friends wouldn’t let him live it down.

They had an encounter with Christ himself, and Thomas missed it. Understandably, he starts to doubt. He says to them, “‘If I don’t see the mark of the nails in his hands, put my finger into the mark of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe.’” (John 20:25)

Thomas wanted proof that the story was true, that Christ really had died and come back to life. He wanted tangible evidence. He wanted assurance and affirmation, and I don’t blame him. I would want the same.

According to Michael Kelley, He wrote: “What To Do When You’re Stuck in Doubt” on For the Church, and he asks these questions about the response of Thomas: “Were these words of insecurity? The same way we might try and talk ourselves into believing that the thing we missed wasn't actually the best party every or the most exciting football finish in history? Were these words of anger, aimed honestly at himself for his blunder in scheduling? Were these words of sadness, redirected to verbalize a lack of faith, but more honestly expressing a deep sadness for his absence? We don’t know.

What we know is that Thomas made a bold claim that he wouldn't believe without physical proof… and we know what the next verses say he did following that claim.

Thomas kept showing up.
We read in verse 26 that Thomas was with the disciples a week later when Jesus came and stood among them. He had seven days of doubting and wanting evidence, and for many of us, that would have also meant seven days of giving up and walking away from it all feeling like we missed our chance. But Thomas didn't walk away, he stayed close, surrounded by the people who had experienced the risen Lord earlier that week.

“This is the best thing that you and I can do when we, like Thomas, are feeling overcome with doubt,” Kelley writes. “We keep showing up.”

In my seasons of doubt, often the last thing I want to do is show up, but it’s also the best thing I could do for myself and my faith.

Kelley concludes his article with this:
“True enough, on those days of doubt we might find ourselves sitting in the midst of God’s people, singing songs that we’re not sure we fully believe. Listening to words that seem to ring hollow in our hearts. Feeling devoid of the emotion that characterizes so many of those around us. And we might, for a time, feel as though we are the only one – on the outside looking in at a group of people with some common shared experience that, at least in the moment, seems to have faded in our own memory. But we are still there. Something inside us has compelled us to be with the people of Jesus.
We, too, keep showing up.
And as we do, we find that in showing up that memory is rekindled. As we sing together, our souls are lifted and our minds are put at ease. It’s not like a magic pill where you simply gather with God’s people and everything is okay again, but slowly, over time, we find that this same Jesus who we wondered whether was really dead or alive, reveals Himself to our cold hearts again, and we know that He has been there all along.”

While Thomas might best be known for his doubting, he also should be known for his persistence in showing up. He saw the Lord because he kept showing up and making himself available, and it led to him having an encounter with Jesus that solidified his faith.

May we learn from the example of Thomas and believe even when we cannot see -- may faith replace our doubt and may we keep showing up, time and time again.

Indian Couple Allegedly Fly To Florida To Beat Daughter-In-Law

Police in Florida have alleged reveals an Indian couple flew 8,000 miles to help "discipline" their daughter-in-law.

67yrs old Jasbir Kalsi and his wife Bhupinder, 62, are said to have travelled from the Punjab region in India to Hillsborough County in the US to help "counsel and discipline" son Devbir's wife.

Their son's wife Silky Gaind was discovered battered and bruised by police officer on Saturday after getting a message to her parents.

Her in-laws and husband are now facing multiple charges, including battery. Her father-in-law, who had been visiting with his wife for about a month, also allegedly held a knife to her throat.

Ms Gaind, 33, had been held for some time before deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff Office arrived at her door.

Even then, the family attempted to bar them from entering the house, forcing the officers to call for back up as Ms Gaind called on them to help her and her one-year-old daughter.

At a court hearing on Sunday, Ms Gaind told a judge her 33-year-old husband had left her in fear for her life.

"I am so scared, because last night he was telling me he was going to kill me if I call the police. He would kill me to death, you know? He told me it would take 10 minutes for police to come and before that he would kill me and then kill himself," she said.

WFLA reported Jasbir Kalsi was facing charges of aggravated battery with a knife, while her husband Devbir had been charged with felony battery.

Both are charged with false imprisonment, child abuse and denying access to 911.

Bhupinder Kalsi was charged with battery, domestic violence and failure to report child abuse.

Check Out The Best Ways To Save Your Money When Shopping Abroad

There are so many markets, bazaars and expansive malls for anyone who loves to shop at your destination. So, whether you’re looking to buy souvenirs or groceries, you can easily walk into any of the aforementioned places to make your purchases. This said, there are circumstances whereby you visit a market or departmental store and the attendant is quoting a completely different price for you because he/she has observed that you are a new in the town.

Below are some tips on how to shop like a local to get the best bargain without losing.

(1).
Haggle for the price you want to pay.
Never accept the initial price you are offered. You should always negotiate. If the seller goes high with the price, go extremely low with and eventually both of you will be able to meet somewhere in the middle

(2).
Trust your instincts.
This is something not to just consider while shopping, but generally while out there. You will likely encounter those trying to sweet talk you into buying a particular item. But, if you feel unsure or think it sounds too good to be true, it is advisable you abandon such an item.

(3). Don’t buy on impulse.
Buying something that you did not include in your purchase list may make it difficult to bargain. This is because your preference for what you are buying on impulse may make it impossible for you to negotiate. You simply accept whatever quoted price. At the same time, you should not show too much enthusiasm for anything you want, it will just make it harder to bring down the price.

(3). Plan your shopping trip in the afternoon for the best bargains.
The time of the day is important to save money on shopping. Most likely, the market will be filled out in the afternoon and as such you will have so many places to make your purchases. So do not go too early or too late.

(4).
 Shop with a local.
The ultimate way to go when you find yourself in a new city or town is to shop with a local. Hence, rather than bargaining yourself, he/she will do the bargain on your behalf and get the best possible price for you.

(5). Simply shop online.
If you do not want to go through the stress of going to the market or mall, you can simply shop online. It is convenient because your groceries or items will be delivered at your doorstep.
