The arresthas sparked up debate on social media, while many applauded the judgement passed by the law court, others were of the opinion that her prosecution was overbearing and unnecessary.

Femi Fani Kayode falls in the second group as he said a warning would have been enough as she already publicly expressed her remorse.

He said;

“The prosecution & conviction of Funke Akindele was overbearing & unnecessary. A warning would have been enough. This is especially so after she publicly expressed remorse. The court was crowded. Why don’t they prosecute those that were there as well, including the Magistrate?”

Majority of Nigerian celebrities who have also reacted to the arrest have also thrown their weight behind Funke Akindele.

The artiste in a tweet via his Twitter begged for the border to be opened for him so he can return home.

Ogun Panic As They Records Two New Cases of COVID-19 Patients Without History of Recent Travels

The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, yesterday on Monday, April 6, disclosed that two new cases of coronavirus disease have been recorded in the state.

Reports gives that Dapo Abiodun who said this while addressing newsmen on the update on the disease added that the two new cases are “significant” because they have no history of recent travel or contacts with any of the positive cases so far
It was gathered that the governor said the development had become a source of concern to the government in its efforts to contain the virus.

He explained the two cases were from Obafemi Owode and Ilaro in Yewa South local government areas of the state.

Governor Abiodun urged members of the public to adhere strictly to the issue of social distancing, washing of hands and personal hygiene to fight the scourge.

The governor added that the new cases had been admitted at one of the isolation centres in the state, while the government would begin contact tracing of those who might have contacts with them.

He said;
 “I have an unpleasant news story to share with you today about COVID-19. The state has recorded two new cases, one from Obafemi Owode and one from Yewa South.
These new cases have no contact with the index case and three other cases that the state had recorded earlier. They have no recent travel history. These new cases have brought the number of cases in the state to six. It is important for us to protect ourselves from the disease. COVID 19 is real.” 

He also announced that a special welfare package had been provided for health workers at the front line of fighting the disease
According to him,
“Our health workers have demonstrated uncommon commitment, that is why we are providing a special front line special package for the health workers. It is a robust package. We must put them in our prayers.”

Chioma is Never Tested Positive For Coronavirus COVID-19 – Kemi Olunloyo Reveals

Kemi Olunloyo has shocked Nigerians after she  disclosed on social media that Davido’s babymama, Chioma doesn’t have COVID-19 as claimed by Davido.

Kemi exclusively stayed that Davido lied about his fiance testing positive.

Weeks ago Nigerian singer Davido revealed that his fiance Chioma has tested positive for COVID-19 after going through the test and has been isolated though she’s yet to show any sign.

According to Davido among all the 32 people including his son Ifeanyi who went through the test, only Chioma tested positive.

Some Nigerians doubted the singer’s claims saying he’s chasing clout while others were of the view that it’s his strategy to release his new song. Some even called him out to go for another test and it also came out positive.

In Kemi’s new post, she stated that no one needs to take her serious, hence the truth about Chioma having COVID-19 is still hanging.

Court Officials Refused Lawyers Representing Actress Funke Akindele and Her Husband Access Into The Court Room

According to Reports reaching us right now, a shouting match ensued at the Chief Magistrates Court in Ogba, Lagos state today as court officials allegedly refused lawyers representing actress Funke Akindele and her husband, JJC Skillz, access into the court room.

Four lawyers are to represent actress Funke Akindele and her husband, but only two were finally allowed into the court room after much argument. 

The couple are being arraigned for breaching the Lagos Infection Diseases Regulations 2020 (the Regulations) for holding a house party despite the lockdown at their Amen estate home on Saturday April 5th.

Check Out NCDC and Dettol Reactions to Actress Funke Akindele's Arrest

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC and Dettol Nigeria, have both reacted after the Lagos state police command this evening arrested actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, for flouting the lockdown order in Lagos state.

Funke and her husband, JJC Skillz had a birthday party at their Amen estate home in Lagos state last night and was attended by quite a number of people which contravenes the social distancing order of the Lagos state government. She was picked up by men of the Lagos state police command this evening while her husband, singer Naira Marley have been asked to come forward for questioning.

Recall that shortly after the Coronavirus pandemic began in Lagos, Funke ran a video campaign sponsored by Dettol. In the video, she emphasised on the need for Nigerians to practice proper hygiene such as washing of their hands and social distancing. Many Nigerians on Twitter this morning bashed her for flouting the social distancing she advised Nigerians about in her campaign ad for Dettol.

Shortly after the news of her arrest broke, Dettol Nigeria on its Twiter page, said as a responsible organization, it does not condone any breach of the guidelines on Covid-19 and are concerned about the turn of events. NCDC on its part said it has not engaged brand ambassdors as part of its response to COVID-19.

Popular Nigerian Photographer Who Was Tested Positive For Coronavirus after Attending AMVCA, Recovered and Discharged (Photos)

Nigerian Photographer, well known as Seun O, who was tested positive for COVID-19 days after attending the 7th edition of the AMVCA shortly after returning from the UK with symptoms of Coronavirus (READ HERE), has been discharged after recovering from the disease. 

The photographer who shared his recovery story on Instagram, thanked everyone that has shown support, stood in the gap and also offered messages of encouragement while he was a patient at Yaba Isolation Center where he received treatment. 

He also asked everyone to stay at home, practice social distancing and good personal hygiene.

The Photographer wrote;

COVID-19: Tiger at a New York City Zoo Tests Positive For Coronavirus

As every nations are battling with the COVID-19 cases, it as reached to us a case of a 4-year-old Malayan tiger at a Bronx Zoo in New York City has tested positive for COVID-19, in what is believed to be the first known infection in an animal in the U.S. or the first tiger anywhere in the World. 

The announcement was made on by the federal officials and the zoo after a test was conducted in Iowa by the USDA's National Veterinary Services Laboratory.

The tiger, Nadia, was exposed by a zoo worker who wasn't yet showing symptoms, the zoo said.

According to the zoo release through Wildlife Conservation Society, says;

"appropriate preventative measures have been implemented to care for the cats and minimize further exposure.''
Six other large cats and three African lions are also showing Coronavirus symptoms, but they are all expected to recover.
Though they have experienced some decrease in appetite, the cats at the Bronx Zoo are otherwise doing well under veterinary care and are bright, alert, and interactive with their keepers."

COVID-19: Governor Seyi Makinde Texted Negative of Coronavirus

Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has been tested Negative of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The governor who was tested positive for the COVID-19 some days ago, has himself revealed that he has now been texted Negative.

Makinde revealed the news in a post he made on his Facebook page not long ago while posting his photo, and he tagged it;

"I am deeply moved by your Prayers and Support throughout this period. I am so thankful. This evening, I received my second Negative test result for COVID-19. I especially thank Prof Temitope Alonge, who acted in my stead as Head of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force.
I am also grateful to all members of the Task Force for their cooperation during this time. I will be resuming my responsibility as Head of the Task Force from tomorrow."

Lai Mohammed Warns Nigerians to Behave, To Avoid Extra Days of Lockdown in the Country

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has warned that the lockdown order issued by President Buhari on Sunday March 29, might be extended if Nigerians don’t behave themselves.

Lai Mohammed disclosed this at a press conference by the Presidential Task Force on Coronavirus in Abuja on Friday April 3. Lai Mohammed urged Nigerians to observe social distancing and a good hygiene, so everyone can get back to their normal lives after the 14-day lockdown.

According to his words, he said;

“If we don’t behave ourselves, there is a likelihood that the lockdown will be extended, but if we behave ourselves, there might not be an extension and I hope we do so.

“If we stay at home for two weeks and we are doing everything we are supposed to do, we should be able to effectively contain the disease.

“Therefore, my appeal to Nigerians is that they should obey the directive on social distancing, personal hygiene and shun gatherings; after two weeks, we will resume our normal life.

“But if they think it is a joke, then we may have to stay at home more than the two weeks.”
