"Joy like a River" – Adekunle Gold Says as he Welcomes New Baby Girl

Adekunle Gold and his wife, Simi have welcomed their first child together.

Simi shared the great news of the arrival of her baby girl, and also gave us the first look of their bundle of joy.

In a very cute and emotional fan mail shared by Adekunle Gold, he talked about how he felt when he saw his daughter for the very first time.

Here’s what he wrote:

"It’s been a lot right? I know. The violence against women, against black people and this pandemic was just too much, I had to log out for a bit. I had to check out to prepare a healthy mind and safe space to welcome my child into the world.

And even though I have sad feelings throughout the day about the crisis outside, when I am with my baby, it’s pure unadulterated joy. I cried so much when Adejare came out. I cried when I first held her. I can’t lie, I still stare at her and shed a few more. Lol

It feels like an obsession really. If someone else is holding Deja, I miss her. I love our skin to skin time. I love feeding her. I love changing her diapers. I love everything, including the insomnia. I’m obsessed with all her expressions; you need to see her stank face – it’s hilarious. I have never seen any baby this beautiful. I mean it. My baby came out with a head full of hair like mine and the most beautiful face I’ve ever seen like Simi. Wow.

I feel so protective over her, and everything happening right now has made me even more conscious of how I want to raise her. I want her to always know she is loved. She is powerful. She is pure black girl magic and I will always believe in her.

I know we are fighting for so much right now. So much pain and insensitivity of the past generations are haunting us. I hope we don’t quit fighting for women’s rights too, because I truly believe if our women are empowered and allowed to lead, we all would be so much better for it. I know this first hand because Simi is powerful and my life is better for it.

While we fight for todays problems, let’s also fight for our future. We must ensure we don’t raise our children with the same consciousness that raised us. We must raise sons who respect value and revere women and raise daughters that are strong and fearless. That we raise children who speak up and stand up for what is right, that we raise children who don’t continue the cycle of abuse, fear, secrecy and insensitivity that has plagued our own generation and the ones before us. I pray for justice for all the victims and that if the hand of the law isn’t a swift enough, that the hand of God will do His thing.

Above all, I wish that even in this madness you find pockets of sunshine that help you breath and reconnect with yourself, and that you have reasons to feel alive and happy.

I’m hugging and kissing and praying over my unemployed princess, while supporting everyone in all the other ways I can.

I pray you are doing the same too.

Sending you loads of love.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday ruled against the Kaduna State Government for unlawful arrest and detention of Chocolate City Boss, Audu Maikori, and directed the state government to pay the victim sum of N10.5 million as damages.

The news was shared by human rights activist, Chidi Odinkalu. He tweeted:

"#Breaking: In a judgment just delivered in Abuja, #Nigeria’s Court of Appeal affirms that @contactkdsg egregiously violated the rights of @Audu when they abducted him from Lagos to Kaduna in 2017. The Court assessed damages at N10.5m in favour of @AuduMaikori was arrested in Lagos in 2017 by a team of Policemen and was transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for misinforming the public via his tweets on happenings in Southern Kaduna."

In 2017, Maikori slammed a violation of human rights suit against Governor Nasir El-Rufai, on the grounds of fundamental rights violation, undue harassment and intimidation by the Kaduna State government, the State Governor and the Nigeria Police, of which he demanded N10 billion as damages.

The tweet had to do with the purported killing of five College of Education students in Gidan-Waya, Kaduna State, killed on their way to school by armed Fulani herdsmen. He later apologised for the tweet, adding that his driver narrated the story to him, and his (driver) brother was among the victims.

He was subsequently transferred to Force Headquarters in Abuja for interrogations and was eventually released on bail and cleared of any complicity by the police.

Maikori was later rearrested and taken to Kaduna where he was detained for four days before he was charged to court. He was granted bail on health grounds.

10 years ago… On this day June 06 2010, I received a call that my Dad had drown & died on the spot at Alesh hotel Ajah. It was like my whole world came crashing down.

They buried my Dad before any autopsy could be carried out, I and reat of my siblings where not told what precisely killed him, and am yet to know what went down on that terrible day. It was too much for me to handle and comprehend, the only thing the owner of the hotel did was that, he called the family, and he gave us #100,000. Is not enough for a life of my Dad?

This life is so unfair! He Used his wealthy position to slap us in the face.

Further, I was forced to a life of uncertainty and hopelessness but God in his infinite mercy showed me how wonderful He’s. After several years my life did turned to better, but not a single day goes by without remembering my Dad… I love you but God loved you best… Continually rest in the bossom of Almighty Allah… Mr Olabode.

Glee Hotel Reacts To The R*pe Accusation Against Nigerian Singer, D’banj

Glee Hotel has debunked the rape allegation against popular Nigerian musician known as Dbanj.

Glee Hotel issued a statement after a talent/model scout, Benjamin Ese, alleged that Dbanj raped his friend two years ago. Not disclosing the friend’s name, Ese wrote that his friend had attended a party in Lagos and was sighted by Dbanj who wanted her. He went on to reveal how she was allegedly raped by the musician.

The allegation came a day after Dbanj strongly condemned rape on his Instagram page. The Koko Master joined the campaign against sexual violence and demanded justice for rape victims in an Instagram post.

Ese challenged the singer and said he had no right to speak against rape having performed the act in the past. He said Dbanj offered his friend in question money in exchange for sex, and she refused.

According to him, the incident happened at the Glee hotel in Victoria Island. He said Dbanj collected the spare key of the girl’s hotel room from the receptionist and allegedly raped her there.

He said she decided to keep quiet after the incident because of the stigma. Dbanj was yet to respond to the allegation, but Glee Hotel didn’t let the accusation slide.

Glee Hotel stated that the rape accusation was false and could never happen within its premises.

Forbes Officially Decleres Cristiano Ronaldo as Football’s 1st Billionaire

Forbes-Officially-Decleres-Cristiano-Ronaldo-as-Footballs-1st-Billionaire-Teelamford
Cristiano Ronaldo earned $105 million after taxes and fees in the past year despite taking a pay-cut at Juventus, landing him at No. 4 on the 2020 Forbes Celebrity 100, one spot above his top rival in the sport, Lionel Messi, and making him the first soccer player in history to earn $1 billion in salary across his playing career.

The 35-year-old striker is only the third athlete to hit the mark while still playing, following Tiger Woods, who did it in 2009 on the back of his long-term endorsement deal with Nike and Floyd Mayweather, who did it in 2017 and has made most of his income from a cut of pay-per-view sales for his boxing matches.

Ronaldo, the first to reach the earnings milestone in a team sport, has made $650 million on the pitch during his 17 years as a pro and is expected to reach $765 million in career salary with his current contract, which ends in June 2022. Messi, who began playing at the senior level three years after Ronaldo, has earned a total of $605 million in salary since 2005.

The only team athlete to even come within striking distance of those figures was former New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, who retired in 2016 after 22 years in Major League Baseball having earned $450 million in salary. Not even soccer legend David Beckham came close, ending his career with total earnings of $500 million, half of which came from off-the-pitch endorsements.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of all time, in the world’s most popular sport, in an era when football has never been so rich,” said Sporting Intelligence’s Nick Harris, whose Global Sports Salaries Survey ranks teams worldwide based on total salary expense. “He’s box office.”

Ronaldo and Messi’s head-to-heads heated up in 2009 in Spain’s La Liga, where Ronaldo played for Real Madrid and Messi for Barcelona.

Their faceoffs on the pitch ignited a nine-year battle for bragging rights as the best—and top-paid—in the sport, a highly personal tit-for-tat that had them re-negotiating contracts in lockstep and monopolizing the game’s highlight reel.

The rivalry was as entertaining as it was profitable, coming just as clubs around the world were seeing soaring attendance and an influx of television money. The two were perfectly matched for battle, on and off the pitch: Ronaldo perfected a shirtless, stylized showmanship while Messi played the quiet game, always a tad unkempt and as prolific a scorer as he was a wingman. Ronaldo strutted after every goal. Messi was a master at thanking his teammates.

Both backed it up. Barcelona won La Liga’s title six times and two Champions Leagues trophies with Messi on the squad. Real Madrid won the Spanish title twice and the Champions League four times with Ronaldo. During their years in the league, each player nabbed the Ballon d’Or (soccer’s MVP award) four times, and El ClΓ‘sico, the nickname for their clubs’ fierce clashes, was a record-setting television event worldwide.

But when it comes to leveraging celebrity, it has been no contest. Guided by Jorge Mendes of Gestifute, one of the world’s most powerful agents, Ronaldo has amassed an ever-growing following of fans and consumers drawn to his poster-boy good looks, his trend-setting hair styles, his impeccable fashion sense and, lately, his softer side as a family man whose toddlers pop up on his social media posts.

In January, he became the first person with 200 million followers on Instagram, part of a social media army of 427 million across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter that makes him the most popular athlete on the planet.

Nike pays him upwards of $20 million annually and signed him to a lifetime deal in 2016, making him just the third athlete, after Michael Jordan and LeBron James, hitched to the Swoosh for eternity.

In May, the footwear maker announced the release of a ten-year-anniversary edition of his first signature Mercurial Superfly and a child’s version to celebrate his son’s 10th birthday, complete with his famous celebration stance, signature and logo.

Pitches for Clear shampoo, Herbalife and pharmaceutical maker Abbott help raise his endorsement tally to $45 million.

The President is Not in Charge of This Nation – Prof. Wole Soyinka says

Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, says he does not believe President Buhari is the one in charge of the affairs of the nation. Soyinka who has never hidden his displeasure about the Buhari-led government, said this when he spoke in a fresh interview with PlusTV Africa.

While reacting to the open letter the former military administrator to Kano state, Umar Dangiwa, wrote to the president in which he accused him of appointing only persons from his region into his government, Soyinka said;
“First of all, I was appalled by the silence that followed this revelation. I think those who are responsible for this criminal lopsidedness should be punished. It is not sufficient just to discuss it. It’s criminal.

I have said this before. I don’t believe there is really anybody in charge in Aso Rock. I’m sorry to say this. I’ve been studying the trend over the past year and a half and I believe this president is not in charge of this nation, in so many aspects and directions. I’m convinced he’s not really and totally with it.

It’s so serious. It is not the fact alone, we know the history of this. We know what it has caused the nation and we know it isn’t over yet. And you say are launching an enquiry. That’s not enough. This man is not in charge.”

I Can’t Forgive Myself, I’m Ashamed – Peruzzi Apologises For His 2012 Rape Tweets

Peruzzi have apologize for his very implicating tweet he made in 2012, that emerged after a lady accused him of rape, even though he denied the allegations those tweets really make it hard for fans to believe his innocence.

In light of recent allegations, accusing me of rape in 2012, I want to say that I, Tobechukwu Victor Okoh, strongly refute such claim. I have never and will never rape or sexually assault anybody.

The claim is false and has also been refuted by a witness who was present at the time of the allegation. Rape is a heinous and cowardly act, which I do not condone.

I’m ashamed and deeply apologetic for a series of tweets posted on social media 8 years ago.

Those tweets were irresponsible and ill-informed. I was younger and didn’t fully grasp the implications of making such statements. They are neither a reflection of who I am then, or now.

I sympathise & stand with all victims and survivors of rape. I do not take your trauma lightly. My heart goes out to the families of Uwazila, Ada, Farishina, and all other survivors who have courageously spoken about their abuse in recent times, may the Almighty heal your hearts.

It is my earnest prayer that the perpetrators be brought to book.

Once again, I sincerely apologise for those tweets, containing really stupid and insensitive statements; I take full responsibility, as I should have known better.

I can’t forgive myself for those dumb tweets. I am sorry. That’s not me! Rose
