In a post on Tuesday, December 22, a man with the Twitter handle @dmIdavies gave a rider’s experience, a review that should tell anyone what to expect with the rail service.
According to him and the snapshot of his ticket, a ride from the Yaba station in Lagos to Moniya in Ibadan cost a sum of N2,500.
He said that the inside of the train is comfortable and very air-conditioned that one may ask for it to be reduced. There are also charging points for those who may want to work on their PC before they get to their workplaces.
@dmIdavies said that while there are a whole lot of things that could be improved, the service is very good for the money.
He added that there is a stop between Lagos and Ibadan at Abeokuta train station, making the journey 2 hours, 30 minutes.
The train currently operates once daily, leaving Ibadan to Lagos from 8 am to 10:30 am in the morning and back to Ibadan from Lagos at 4 pm to 6:30 pm. To get a ticket, a valid ID card is required and there is no option to book online for now.

“The common saying is that ignorance is a disease. I do agree. Indeed, poor education is worse than illiteracy. Poor education is even more dangerous than ignorance. But what do we have today?
Due to poor education, Nigeria is today producing graduates whose education makes them more dangerous than uneducated people. Today, Nigeria produces graduates who cannot write simple and correct sentences; graduates who do not understand the difference between transitive and intransitive verbs.
We have graduates who do not know the place and import of prepositions in grammar; graduates who do not know the use of adjectives and adverbs; graduates who do not know the place of agreement of nouns and number; graduates who do not know the import of adjectival and adverbial clauses.
There are graduates who do not know the difference between Tropics of Cancer and Tropics of Capricorn. There are those who do not know Magellan line, that is, the line that divides the earth into two.
There are many graduates who do not know the distance between the earth and where the rain starts to fall. There are also those who do not know why we have day and night or the difference between Neap or High Tide or the fact that what is called heaven consists of billions of stars and different planets.
“Whereas our towns will only be better if we have quality education, our nation will be better if we have quality education, and the world will be better if we all have quality education,” he said.
reports that the minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola, who made the announcement on Wednesday, December 23, said the holidays are to celebrate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year.
The federal government felicitated with Christians and all Nigerians both at home and abroad on this year’s Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Aregbesola, however, urged Christians to adopt the creed of Christ on faith, hope and love.
He said:
“We must emulate the life of humility, service, compassion, patience,
peace and righteousness that the birth and Ministry of Jesus Christ
signified, that will be the best way to know Christ and celebrate his
birth.”
The minister also noted that peace and security are critical factors
needed to enable the government to accomplish its mission of
revitalizing the economy, improving foreign direct investment as well as
generating employment opportunities for over 100 million Nigerian
youths in the next 10 years.
Aregbesola advised Nigerians and Christians in particular, to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines as stipulated by relevant authorities, during and after the yuletide, especially with the second wave of the outbreak of the disease.
The minister who reiterated FG’s commitment to the fight against banditry, kidnappings and other crimes and criminalities in the country, called on Nigerians to support the efforts of the security agencies by providing them with information that will enhance intelligence gathering.
While admonishing all Nigerians to remain focused, determined, patient and patriotic, Aregbesola expressed confidence that the year 2021 would be a better year for all Nigerians, urging Christians to use the period to pray for Nigeria.
He wished all Nigerians and Christians in particular, a happy Christmas and New Year Celebrations.
‘I was hungry then and I am even hungrier now. It was a good spar. I didn’t really know too much, it was just passion. Now I have some boxing IQ and passion, I know it will be a great fight.
‘There was a Rolex but now there is an even bigger pot of gold at the end of this rainbow and I want to take his head off his shoulders when that fight happens.’
Joshua, the IBF, WBA and WBO champion, added: ‘After the Pulev fight I didn’t want to do any interviews – less talk and more action. I stood by that. But now that we’re talking about it, a week or so after, and I’m ready, I’m keen. If that fight happens I’m sure that I’ll win. How close are we? I promise you conversations are happening. We’re definitely looking at the landscape. But until you hear it from me, don’t buy into anything.
‘I’m taking my time – because there has been a lot of back-and-forth for years. I’ve been chasing this road to undisputed and when the time is right I’ll announce it and I’ll have my mind fully focused on the job at hand.
‘The offers will be made, substantial offers. I’m looking more optimistically as if it will happen to be honest with you. He should take this fight with both hands.
‘I promise you this: I will put in a serious offer to fight Tyson Fury and if he’s serious himself, he will take it. If he’s not I will fight (Oleksandr) Usyk and leave it there.’
Heavyweight boxer, Usyk is among the problems around the fight for the undisputed title, given the Ukrainian is the mandatory challenger for Joshua’s WBO belt.
With the WBO currently holding Joshua to his obligation to fight Usyk next, Joshua could have to vacate the belt in order to complete negotiations with Fury.
Asked about giving up one of his titles, Joshua said: ‘The belts do make it special but I feel like the cries from the public are just for me to fight Tyson Fury.
‘I am the sort of guy who will let my team just put a social media poll and whatever the fans vote, I will do. If they want to see me fight Fury, and I have to relinquish… There is nothing more in it than me wanting to compete against the best.
‘If that is Tyson Fury, then fine. If they want me to fight Usyk, and get him out of the way, then fine. I believe I will beat Usyk and then Tyson Fury can happen at the end of the year. Either way, I am just doing my next couple of fights next year on what the public wants me to do.’
In terms of his future, Joshua indicated he has a point in mind for when he will retire.
He said: ‘I have a time frame, I want to go to around 38.
‘I am not just looking at Tyson Fury, but how long I can give to the sport. What more do I have to give? I am young and fit, I don’t do anything else so boxing is fun for me and keeps me busy.
‘Tyson Fury is a good challenger, someone to help me progress, he will be a great learning fight. And, once that is done, I will go on competing with the best, challenging myself and making history.’
Members of the party who were suspended are former state chairman of the party in Ondo State, Ebenezer Alabi; former lawmaker, Rasheed Elegbeleye; former Publicity Secretary, Ayo Fadaka; Oyedele Ibini, and Lad Ojomo.
The suspended persons are said to be part of a delegation that paid a visit to former Ekiti Governor, Ayo Fayose, to solicit support for a chieftain of the party, Eddy Olafeso, who aspires to become the Zonal Vice Chairman of the party in the South-west.
The party’s spokesman, Kennedy Peretei who stressed that their suspension was in line with Section 58 (1)(a)(b)(f) and (h) of the Party Constitution (2017 as Amended), also denounced the visit to Mr Fayose amid the division in the party along the support lines of Mr Fayose and the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
The statement read;
“By this decision, they are expected to stop parading themselves as members of the party. All organs of the party are to take note in this regard. They stand suspended until the outcome of the report of the State Disciplinary Committee.”
The State Working Committee also dissolved the State Elders Committee. The statement added;
“In accordance with the provisions of our constitution (2017 as Amended), another State Elders Committee will be constituted in due course. We also want to put it on record that, the State Executive Committee of the PDP in Ondo State did not send any delegation to anywhere to represent the Party.Whoever lays claim to such is an impostor and does not represent the opinions of our teaming supporters in the State.”However reacting to the suspension, Fadaka allaged that it ”was part of the dirty politics to keep him away from clinching the position during the congress”.
He told Premium Times;
“Fayose is supporting us but governor Makinde is not, so they decided to suspend me indefinitely so that I cannot be elected.I did not do anything. I am not a person who will be involved in anti-party activities, it is just to keep me from being elected. No reason other than a blanket tag of anti-party activities have been established by them as the basis for this step.”

Safa, who is based in New Jersey, took to Twitter on Saturday, December 19, to share the good news, praying for Allah’s protection for her family.
She wrote;
“I have a co-wife y’all!!!!! I’m more excited than my husband May Allah grant us tawfiq and protect us from jealousy and the evil eye. Ameeen”.
She was showered with congratulatory messages, with many praising her for being accepting of her new co-wife.
The tweet also elicited some criticisms. A Nigerian Twitter user Vivian Akinosoye said that the life of the woman’s children can never be the same after the second marriage.
Safa responded, saying “Our children are just fine. This is the way their Lord decreed for it to happen. May Allah guide you. Ameen".
To the man who said that polygamy is a criminal offence in America, Safa told him to respectfully go to hell.
“By wanting for your sister what you would want for yourself. By taking pride in sisterhood and unity. By placing my Trust in Allah (Subhanahu wa ta a’la.” she added.
In a post on her Instagram page, she shared a snapshot of an interview where she was asked about her relationship with the singer.
The mother of Zion said that their meeting was in 2012 when she was still with a popular American singer, Chris Brown.
The fashionista revealed that she has been a manager for nine years, a journey she started when she began managing Tinchy Stryder.
In the same post, she also celebrated Wizkid’s latest album, saying it a big honour for her to talk about Made In Lagos.

“I’ve been blessed to work with some of the best talents in the world and I’m so thankful that my journey is not only continuing but evolving.”

Ka3na had taken to her official Instagram page to share a photo of herself wearing a lovely diamond ring. She also shared a video showing her hand holding the diamond ring.
In the caption that accompanied the post, the mother of one stated that she and her husband have a tradition of popping new rings on each anniversary.
As expected, fans and followers commented and wished her well. A follower called Orji Jenny, however, asked if the reality star is still married. Ka3na answered her and said yes.
Another follower then noted that the mother of one was still married yet she cheated on her husband with a man she barely knew on national TV.
The follower stated that it is no surprise she married an old man who doesn’t have a family. According to him, Ka3nam may have used a charm in marrying her husband.

Rohr was appointed as coach of the Super Eagles in 2016 following Sunday Oliseh’s resignation as manager of the national team.
According to Oliseh he left the post due to the failure of the federation to support him and also over his unpaid wages and contract violation.
Rohr upon taking over in 2016 guided the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia but failed to progress past the group stage.
Rohr who finished third at the 2019 Afcon in Egypt and was handed a new deal after the federation reviewed his job and expressed satisfaction with him.
Nigeria recently failed to beat lowly-rated side Sierra Leone in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers putting much criticism on the Franco-German tactician.
Special assistant on sports to Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari, Daniel Amokachi, has now come out to reveal Rohr’s contract contains a huge $2 million compensation clause, which in his view is a terrible choice considering how the football body treated indigenous coaches like Sunday Olisey and Emmanuel Amuneke.
“For the administration to bring somebody like Oliseh and not giving him time because he’s Nigerian and they let go,” Amokachi told Brila FM.
“To bring in somebody like Amuneke and not giving him time then they let him go. Then you bring a new coach where those two coaches are far better than him; pedigree-wise and portfolio-wise.
“But still, they gave the machinery a lot of money, $60 plus with all the bonuses, if they play two matches in a month, then you’re talking over $100,000.
“And then at the end of the day, you put a $2m clause on a coach that has never won anything. A coach that came from Burkina Faso to Tunisia then to Nigeria and you put a $2m clause, that’s the first I’m hearing such.
“If you were bringing Guardiola you can put $10m if he says he wants it because you know who he is; he has won laurels. But for a coach that has not done anything, not achieved anything and you put a $2m clause? There’s a lot of failure in that.
“I’ll not rate them (NFF) out of 10, but all these things I’ve broken down will tell anybody with common sense where I’m coming from.”
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Rapporteur, Lake Chad/West Africa, Joseph Cullen, the EU is a deserving relief to see that everything ended without bloodshed.
“We commend President Buhari for the swiftness and efficiency with which the lads were rescued from their abductors. Such swiftness would have made all the difference had such occurred in 2015 when schoolgirls were similarly abducted from their school in Chibok, Borno State,” the statement partly said.
“It is commendable that critical time was not lost in returning the schoolboys back to their families. The abduction had sent shockwaves across the entire international community because of the similarities it shared with the kidnap of the schoolgirls in a secondary school in a town of Chibok in Borno State of Nigeria which took place on the night of Monday, the 14th day of April 2014 under the previous administration.
“EUHRF commends President Muhammadu Buhari and the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for this cheery outcome even as it is now apparent that measures must be implemented to ensure such actions do not occur in the first place.
“This will ensure that the priority that President Buhari
gives to matters pertaining to women and children continues to remain
in place since these are vulnerable people that must be given extra
protection in view of the complex security situations that Nigeria is
having to deal with owing to an unhealthy mix of internal, external,
state and non-state factors that Nigeria is contending with.”
